Quick enough walk thru to get me going and develop a habit/system where my sensitive info has a layer of protection.

Thank you for this video. So far the best explanation on encrypting emails. However, have a question please. I'm using pass unix password manager and I do have gnupg installed (I'm a beginner in linux, and have linux mint installed). If I follow your instructions will that mess up the key that I already have set up for pass?
  • can you please tell me the reason why this error comming... when i sending an email in thunderbird ? Sending of the message failed. Failed due to unexpected error 80004005. hello, at 10:32 i got an error saying gpg: <recipient's email address> : skipped: No data gpg: secrets.txt: encryption failed: No data. Would you happen to know what that means? Thank you for the video. Got up to 10:32 successfully.

You can use -r for recipient instead of --recipient of you want. Good tutorial though.

I appreciate your video. However, there's one minor thing: It's Enigmail, not Enginemail. Enigma, from Greek Aínigma, meaning riddle, also reminds us of the Enigma cipher machine used by the Germans in WWII.

I'd suggest taking a look at SimpleLogin that allows you to receive emails with Pgp.
