Someone described phase 4 as "when you 100% the story on an open world game, and you start cleaning up the mundane side quests and collectibles" and I literally can't think of a better analogy.
  • My main problem with Phase 4 is that most movies are trailers for other movies, and those movies are trailers for other ones. Edit: After reading the replies I do think that the shows act more like trailers than the movies.
  • fun fact, Marvel fired their own VFX head because she went to the Oscars this year for her own movie, and she didn't promote Marvel. the writers strike is a long time coming, and I really hope VFX artists get this publicity too

NWH wasn’t popular because of the multiverse, it was because of Maguire and Garfield. Dr Strange MoM wasn’t popular because of the multiverse, it was because of Sam Raimi.

Morbius was such an influential movie that the MCU took inspiration from it
  • “And if the fantastic four movie is bad, i will rip my own head off” Couldn’t agree more, Markie

I'm mostly scared for Blade, they don't even know how to write him in comics lol
  • does like... NO ONE remember Werewolf by Night? That is undoubtedly the BEST thing Marvel put out in phase 4 and it has tuck with me to this day
  • On the other hand, if ANOTHER fantastic 4 movie is a disaster that would be fucking hilarious

Disney Plus has been both a blessing and a curse for Marvel. On one hand, it gives them avenues to tell solo stories with characters they wouldn’t do in a movie. On the other hand, it’s given them this quantity over quality mindset where it feels they’re too stretched thin for quality control and we are getting shows for the sake of getting shows even if they have no real purpose. Like did anyone really ask for an Agatha or Echo show?

Something I remember is that early MCU didn’t have access to characters ppl actually know like Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk (kinda) and the Fantastic 4. So they had to make people care about characters like Iron Man and Starlord by making the movies good and memorable Now that Disney owns everything and they can just have whoever appear, there are more meaningless cameos and less heartfelt attempts to get us to like characters we don’t know yet

I completely agree with you, after phase 3 they should've taken a break for a few years instead of shoving half baked projects down our throats over and over again

Dr. Strange 2 encapsulates the writing problem for the MCU. 3 weeks before production, with many sets and props already made, they approached Michael Waldron to write an entirely new script for the movie. He managed to make a first draft, which they then promptly threw away and then told him to *make it up as they went along*. This is explicitly stated in the behind the scenes footage of the movie.

I saw someone on Twitter say “What if Doctor Doom shows up and the first thing he does is make his mask disappear nanotech-style like all other characters?” And I think that is the exact thing that would permanently KILL my investment in the MCU.
  • I can't get over how they just completely stomped on Thor and Doctor Strange. They made Thor an incompetent bumbling idiot in Love and Thunder, and Doctor Strange keeps getting his ass kicked in every movie he's in, like his powers literally mean nothing at this point. Also, you gotta love how Doctor Strange had to train for months alongside experienced monks to be able to use basic magic. Then Ned learns the same magic by complete accident simply because "magic runs in his family."😂
  • 3 months after this video came out, I can confirm Guardians 3 was, indeed, a good movie. In fact, it was spectacular.

My biggest gripe with Marvel in general rn is that the Blip is just completely unexplored. There must’ve been heroes coming to fruition during it, and there must’ve been stories worth telling
  • The moment Yelena got bad-CGed off the ship, I got an ad for The CW. Perfect comedic ad timing.
  • @ruimy9
"a movie where thor kinda fucks around for a few hours" is honestly the perfect summary for love and thunder

As a casual Marvel fan, I didn’t expect them to ramp up production 10x once it was “End Game”
