this movie was so much more nuance and beautiful than the rating given to it because the men who rated it simply did not understand the theme of navigating childhood trauma, grief, abandonment and girlhood

Ive always been impressed with Dakota Fannings actung skills. Especially as a child. So natural.
  • As someone who lost their dad as a young kid, this movie portrays that grief so well. RIP Brittany 🤍

Britney Murphy just oozed charisma. She was a special kind of person.

I really think the saddest part of this movie WAS getting Ray almost excited to ride the teacups, and watching her take public transport, and mastering a bite of the hot dog; and then they get there and it's complete disappointment that the park is closed... That hurt me, and reminded me of my own childhood disappointments. Now as a mom, I warn my kids never to expect that things will go perfect. It's heartbreaking when your children are disappointed.

Brittany Murphy could have played Barbie for sure 😢

The way that Ray acts in the beginning is a spitting image of her mother, because she wants her mothers approval, attention and validation. It's actually quite sad, especially the Fruit Punch scene -- you could totally see her judgemental and pretentious mom saying that to her, and Ray is just regurgitating that sentiment she was told to Molly.

This movie will forever be a favorite. It feels so comforting watching it. As a child it felt magical and luxurious.

Britney Murphy. What a star that had so much to give, and talent. She would have been a movie star I’m sure, she was funny and also did dramatic well. Love this movie x

When Ray replied after Molly said she's employed by her mom: "Look around. You see her anywhere?" That was one of the saddest reply as a comeback.....

"Newz falash, ya not gunna! In the meantime, ya work FOR MEE." The delivery 👌👌👌.

Watching this movie now I’m realizing Ray’s character is like a mean version of Matilda😂 Dakota did amazing playing her!

back when people had normal teeth and not blazing white bars of pearls in their mouths lol

I always feel sad at the ending when Dakota Fanning/Lorraine “Ray” says “Every story has an end” and Brittany Murphy’s character fades away to the end credits scene 😞 RIP Brittany Murphy ❤️

I love this movie! It’s a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but I always feel so optimistically happy by the end ☺️
