"The person who takes medicine must recover twice. Once from the illness and once from the medicine". - William Osler
  • Stress causes release of hormones that help a person survive dangerous situations. If that stress is chronic, those hormones are destructive to the body.

Wrote my first college paper on this in 1988: Psychoneuroimmunology is the study of the interaction between the mind, the nervous system, and the immune system. Communication between these systems is complex. Bidirectional neurological pathways exist, however, and psychological phenomena such as stress and depression may impact the immune system. The Military / Government / DARPA has gone on to weaponize it.

A mind can be made unhealthy by others, who want your body unhealthy too...........For profit and power.

In 2020 we witnessed the nocebo effect as well as the negative effects fear, anxiety and loneliness have on health in full force.

Came here to say that in my experience, it's also an unhealthy body that can create the conditions for an unhealthy mind. I was in chronic pain, and suffering from poor sleep, and had real issues changing my brain and life. No real change came until I dealt with my bodily issues (surgery) and lived a healthier life. I hope this helps at least one person see the big picture

I've experienced a diminished immune system due to excessive stress. Many ppl don't realize just how much we can influence the body with our minds/ mindsets.
  • @thekeytothegate
Whilst the mind plays a role in chronic illness, it plays an equal part in healing.

"If you bring forth that which is inside you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth that which is inside you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
  • exactly, negative thoughts can precede/lead to sickness. we must become mentally strong to be able to resist such thoughts.

Someone did a study on different cultures that place curses and hexes on others. They had one thing in common... the victim had to see it done, or be told that a curse was placed on them.

Thanks for the reminder. Took me 40 years to realise this. I suffer from chronic stress since i was 14 because of trauma. I have never been healthy since. Diabetes, cancer, chronic nerve pain, 16 x collapsed lung, my ribs break every time i cough to hard, lost all my teeth, nerve damage in the eye, several cysts removed, constant inflammation, dislocated shoulder and hip and my body has no resistance to anything anymore. Literally sick and tired every day. Ever since i met people outside of my toxic family i discovered i never had a positive thought in my life. It's really hard to change that around when every cell in your body hurts.

Dr John Sarno was a big name in the field of understanding the mind-body connection. It's definitely a very real phenomenon. I've found solace in thinking of my anxious thoughts (likely brought on by trauma early in life) to be a fellow passenger in my mind, a voice, but not the one true perspective and not defining of who I am. This has let me listen to it, check in with it, but not give in the final say on how I should think or feel. It is a constant struggle but miraculously my health has improved as I've implemented this strategy.

This reminds me of the idea that sin has a very real physical impact on us. This has serious implications for how we engage with aociety and how we choose to live and treat one another in society.
  • @starc.
The Body is a slave of the Mind. Similar to a driver in a car that control the body of the car from the inside.
  • @martinwarner1178
Yes, very interesting. I've done my own operation of taming the troublesome mind, and the healing effect flows through my body, like a life force. AOI is always brilliant, peace and goodwill.
  • Your video is spot on. I am a doctor and a psychoneuroimmunologist. The study of Psychoneuroimmunology deals directly with the mind-body connection. I use it with my patients with chronic conditions. Excellent video. Thank you.
  • @alphacause
Thank you for this much needed video. The mind body connection has been noted throughout history, but the reason why this perennial truth is seldom emphasized in mainstream medicine, and often mocked by allopathic doctors, is that it is too empowering. A patient who can master his or her physical outcome by changing their frame of mind is not a perpetual victim in need of a savior in the form of drugs and surgery - the bread and butter of the medical industry. Of course, there is a need from drugs and surgery, and both have done a world of good. However, the medical industry's tendency to resort to these two modalities, almost reflexively, without considering other options, is not based on what is best for the patient. It based on what is best for their bottom line.
