The Brompton Electric arrived 2 years ago, I used to think it wasn't for me, but sometimes opinions change!

I bought a Brompton Electric after watching your previous video and it's really helped this year. I've driven trains all the way through the lockdowns and my commute to work is a hilly 10k. Having the bike with me means I can get home after a shift without much effort even when there's no public transport running. I've got a car and non electric bikes but cycling gives me time to mentally unwind and the electric means I'm not walking in the house at 3am sweating and wide awake when I have to get to sleep because I'm at work 12 hours later.
  • Hi, I'm speaking to you from Campinas, Brazil. I also a folding bike too. I would like to buy a Brompton but I don't have money to buy it. Many times I prefer riding a bike than driving my car. Your Brompton is beautiful.
  • @AlexEdwards1973
Just bought one for my Wife and ordered a basic Brompton for me, can't wait to take them away and use them on our Holidays in the UK and fingers crossed abroad soon. Keep up the good work.

I've had nearly 50 years in the sadle, the last year and a bit has featured ebikes both bought and built by myself. From the moment I rode the electric I was hooked, the hills here in Yorkshire disappeared seemingly lol. I love motorbikes too but that's quite different story.

You could always upgrade your old Brompton with a Swytch kit. Then you needn't argue with Nathan as to who gets the electric when you are out together. I have electrified my 20 year old Brompton with a Swytch kit and I'm very impressed with the result. I use it a lot more now, as a replacement for local car journeys. It would be a very interesting comparison you could make between the official Brompton Electric and the Swytch Brompton.

Lovely to see you back! So glad you and Nathan have got the home you want, and looks like a very exciting future for you both. Well done with the driving test- my American friends have said how they can’t get over how fast we drive over here on our small roads ! I’ve been putting off the idea of an e-bike due to ego reasons but after a long spell of illness has left me in no shadow of a doubt I’m getting on a bit, the eBrompton looks very interesting indeed! Take care, happy Christmas to you and yours!🎄
  • Welcome back. Congratulations on all your many life changes. Have an adventure filled and healthy 2021!
  • Yeah, it’s been a funny old year for changes. I originally ordered a Swytch kit for my Brompton (it’ll arrive one day!) so I could commute and leave the car at home a couple of days a week. Now I’m working from home full time and don’t really need the car anymore. I’m using the Brompton for local trips and hopefully when the kit arrives I’ll use it for longer trips round Bristol. Everywhere is down hill from home, so I could do with the help! Thanks for the video and I’m looking forward to the upgrade vid.
  • I am 57 and use my Brompton every day for short and longer journeys up to 50 miles without any problems. April 2022 my wife and I are cycling on our Brompton's from the UK to Azerbaijan. I am just itching to get away.

I'm looking forward to get my first foldable bike. Definitly gonna be a Brompton. I have a remote-friendly work, but I need sometimes to go to the place for reasons. I just moved 40km from work, to get a bigger house for less money and also more green around! But now I have to make 4 kilometers with somes littles hills (I have some computer and somewath-heavy stuff to move os yeah little hills can become big in mind lol), plus the train to take, and then some little kilometers to reach work. Well I didn't think before I would need an electric one, but, eh, seems to be good. As you sya, it's important to note change in our life hehe
  • @BrookValentine
Love the descriptions of the changes and how they influenced you, and you adapted each time. Very "real world" and easy to relate to. Stay well, and keep cycling.

Michelle as always do great presentations and it is really enjoyable listen her voice! Okay we get older to but is still fun beat your yesterday :) whatever you do it on an E-bike or not. E-bike is perfect for commuting and you not need smell sweet at work. I wish you Michelle and Nathan a very Good New Year!
  • I have "every" kind of bikes: gravel, road, mtb, monospeed, cargo... but a Brompton is my dream, can't wait to get one and make a video about it on my channel. Good Video! 🙌
  • @jabig
You were not wrong. Your situation changed.
  • @WheelersAtLarge
Nice insight into how you use the Brompton. We were looking at doing train, city visit trips this year and did look at the Brompton. Might still be an option in the future. Best wishes to Nathan and yourself for the new year 👍
  • @zedcred
Enjoyed your video. I have a lovely titanium gravel/road bike that I throughly enjoy riding, but my commute to my foundry is done on my Brompton. I really enjoy that too. I have a Swytch electric kit for the Brompton due to be delivered over the next few days. I'm in a quandary, do I sell the kit on or not? I'm feeling quite fit at the moment, but I'm 58 next birthday 😊 Looking forward to seeing what upgrades you've done on yours. Happy Christmas.

I kind of had the opposite experience where I was driving a Smart for a few years (albeit the electric one which is awesome to be clear) but I got rid of it to cycle everywhere again. I haven’t really had the full car-free experience yet because I haven’t had to go anywhere outside a 5 mile radius since March. But I definitely don’t miss driving at all so far, and that surprised me. I took voluntary redundancy when my job wanted me to come back before the furlough was ending and I knew covid was going to get much worse again. And then the scheme was extended just after that. Fortunately I can live on my savings for a while though so I feel fortunate for that, and it’s definitely nice not feeling like I’m dragging around a ball and chain in the form of a car and all the associated costs.
  • @EatCycleRepeat
Great to see you back Michelle, glad to hear that the Brompton is getting a good run out. Congratulations on the driving and hope you have a great Christmas 🚴
