I have Portuguese ancestors, but I am from the United States. When I was a child, my father would talk about the Portuguese with pride and admiration, going in depth about the discoveries of Portugal and how they changed the history of the world. My father passed when I was 12, but I always had a fascination of my ancestors and their feats. Your videos go so in depth of the specifics, and I thank you for your research and efforts in making these documentaries.

How’s this guy Duarte Pereira not known as one of the greatest battle minds ever? That battle was impossible, it was insane, and he pulled it off brilliantly.

It is amazing to think that these seafarers traveled around an unmapped Africa to foreign and alien India where they lacked supplies, starved, made enemies, and managed to crush them in battle despite being outnumbered.

Please hurry with the rest of this series! we love it so much, we know this is hard to produce but understand that no one else has this content about Portugal.

I'm a catholic ( Syro- Malabar Eastern Catholic) which used to be nestorians mentioned in the video. It really is great to watch this video sitting from my home in Calicut. An interesting fact; the kingdoms in Kerala ( state which includes Calicut, Cochin,Kannoor and Kollam) used to have a matrilineal dynasty. More specifically, the heir to the throne is always the king's sister's son, ie, his nephew. Hence the reason the nephew's of kings keep popping in the video.

I'm Brazilian, and your videos had a big impact on me. Hearing how the pirates of the world, and how they take everything, the school story says with pride, made me see who Europeans are wild. And they still are.

I never comment on youtube videos but damn man 10/10!

Fun fact: here in Brazil we have a football team that is in honor of Vasco Da Gama, the team have the same name as the navigator, they won the Brazilian league 4 times, the Brazilian cup 1 time and the Copa libertadores, the biggest throphy in the continent 1 time in 1998, right now they are in bad situation they were relegeated 4 times and disputed the Second division 5 times, now they played in the first division but they were fighting against the releagation in the last season

Genuinely this is among the best channels out there.

"This is the fleet of the King of Portugal, my sovereign, who is the Lord of the Sea, the World, and also OF YOU!" — Based Vasco da Gama. 😄.

Stop that Netflix! I HAVE TO watch this Portugal documentary!!

Amazing videos. I am Portuguese and our history has always fascinated me. It’s amazing to get this more in depth look at it. Keep up the great work!

Not to insult my history teachers, or those who wrote the history books from when I was in school, but these 2 videos alone were sooooooooooooooooo much more effective on teaching me my own country history (from that period) then the school books or the teachers ever did, and on top that these videos are super entertaining and oh sooo well narrated. This is truly valuable stuff, I hope it gest translated to Portuguese (of Portugal hopefully) so not only the kids, but every Portuguese in general can learn our history, in a less "glorified" way, because truth be told, there's almost as much to be proud of as there is to be ashamed of. Anyway, amazing stuff, I truly have no words, congrats to all involved.

Amazing job, loved it! Can't wait for part 3! 😁 Netflix should really make a movie about these Portuguese heroic battles and their untold maritime adventures.

Thanks for your amazing work. You’re one of the best if not the best in YouTube doing videos about my beloved country. A small country with such rich history. He had lots of conquests and brave battles to make videos. Thanks a lot.

Just watched it fully! This is epic! What an amazing video you did! The battle for Cochin would make such an epic movie! So impressed by this documentary! I watched the 1st part also, this one was even better! Congrats, can't wait for the sieges of Diu!
-
Good work. Congratulations. Without wanting to monopolize, I suggest a look at the battle of Diu with Francisco de Almeida and the battles of Hormuz and Malacca by Afonso de Albuquerque, authentic works of art of military strategy from that time.

Thank you for these videos, I know the time and work and research that takes to create this!!! Thank you for helping to share our history and to the world. Being such a small country I think it’s extraordinary how much we impacted the world. Greetings from Portugal!!
