Hotels and Airbnb's are too expensive. But when a winter storm hits Tahoe, I have to go skiing. So I took the trip up to Palisades and Truckee in North Lake Tahoe to see if I could survive the night in my car, and get some skiing in.

  • Awesome video! I just slept in my Crosstrek near there a couple days ago. For me what worked to keep the condensation down was some in-channel window deflectors from amazon. They fit up into the window channels of the car so that you can leave the windows cracked without rain/snow getting in. It snowed overnight and nothing got in the car and they provided great ventilation. You can also pop them in/out of the window channels and they stay in place without using adhesive so they don't have to be permanent!

Always have some ventilation. Hang a towel from your door frame over the window down about an inch. It'll stop or slow rain snow from blowing in and still offer ventilation.
  • Okay. So, first, I shared this with my mentor (whom I spoke with last video, who does car camping and who lives in Tahoe) but, as I tell Diane, you're nuts! Choo choo! Man, you drove right by our home on I-80. Next time you pass the 80/65 interchange look to the right and πŸ‘‹ (Heading up the hill). At first, I was like, "no, you did NOT go up there this past weekend"!πŸ˜‚

I just tinted my windows with limo film, so that I don’t bother to cover the windows with reflective pad
