I love that you mentioned some stuff in the lore that most others don’t mention. It makes it far more interesting than just recounting the main story to pad view time
  • 27:01 Thank you for pointing this out! Too many people give Geppetto a pass for what he did because 'he missed his son and it was out of love' and they don't realize how at the end of the day, he only wanted to make himself feel better. Rather than reflect on his actions and let his son rest in peace, he chose to defile him (both his body and his memory) and 'fix' him into his own version. He didn't love Carlo, he loved the IDEA of Carlo. And in turn he only valued the idea of P, which is why he rejected P the moment he didn't obey his command. Geppetto was never a good man, he was just good at pretending.

Lies of Peak is my second favorite game of 2023... It's amazing

You could have talked about Camille, Carlo's mother. Her ergo was put into a maid puppet. She made the Saintess Statue.

This is an incredibly done work and I'm inspired to say why. I often appreciate the world-building and storycraft more than the mechanics of souls-likes, so I seek out these distilled narrative pieces. This is truly the gold standard of lore videos, and I hope future contributors to the genre use this as inspiration when crafting their own work. Your narrative was concise, you identified the driving relationships between characters and the factions, and your choice of accompanying footage and cutscenes were dynamic and non-repetitive, which is a pitfall a lot of novice documentarians succumb to. A lot of these more complex narrative games do force players to grapple with philosophical concepts, which means that secondhand retellings can get caught up in their attempt to describe all avenues of interpretation, often to the detriment of the story. But good stories use vagueness as a tool. You and your team did an excellent job understanding that principle, and weaved the questions of agency and uncomfortable truth in a very non-distracting way. Good lore summaries require excellent storytellers. For the sake of art, I hope everyone involved in this piece keeps expressing their creative minds.

This video is exactly what I was looking for. I would like to see more regarding characters met in Lies of P, like the sisters, or Venigni, or Alidoro and the people from the cave at the swamp. Great video, subscribed :)

What a cool story. It can go real dark or real hopeful and almost fairytale-like with those endings.
