Joe has had the privileges of speaking face to face with some of the most influential, inspirational, intelligent, creative, and overall badass people in our time. Man, what a ride he’s had.

Ironically I discovered Chuck from reading one of his books in jail a few years ago.

He’s sitting like he is about to substitute teach in a low income neighborhood in hopes of saving some kids.

Chuck is an amazing storyteller, we're lucky to have authors like him and the freedom to write what we want.

One of the funniest jokes I heard was Joann Rivers about her husband who committed suicide. It was a real life situation with her daughter at a restaurant. Her daughter had basically withdrawn and wouldn’t speak to anybody including her mum. They were out at a restaurant and they were looking at the menu, and nobody was saying anything, then Joann said’ it’s good job daddy ain’t here, otherwise with these prices he’d kill himself all over again. And they both hysterically laughed. She then started telling that joke on stage. Brilliant.

"I would never throw that story back in his face" Tells the story on the world's biggest podcast

If Norm MacDonald had told it, that dead kid story would have destroyed.
  • FYI Chuck’s books are not banned in the LA DOC system because I had several of his books sent to me while I was “visiting” their lovely facilities.

Sarah Jessica Parker walks into a bar, the bartender says “why the long face?”

All the men disturbed that he described the dead boy’s body as perfect (to mean undamaged) is a little suspect... my mind didn’t even think of it as sexual.. y’all projecting much?

The disassociation he describes in the story about the kid being autopsied is part of what people in that profession have to be able to do in order to survive. Humans, at least some of us, have a fascinating ability to compartmentalize.

Chuck is an awesome writer. It's been years since I read it, but some lines from Fight Club still make me reevaluate what I'm doing from time to time.
  • I saw Fight Club before I discovered Chuck's books and now every book of his I read is in Edward Norton's voice
  • He's truly correct. His form of literature is restricted in prison. I've had literature from Robert Greene and Sun Tzu confiscated but they allowed books that portrayed drugs, prostitution, violence as apart of an acceptable culture, to be read and ordered into the prison.

Chuck Palahniuk's nightmares must be interesting, a buddy of mine works as a mortician and he tells me his nightmares are super bizarre, like he once told me he dreamt himself walking a path where he knew he would be killed at the end destination but he couldn't stop himself from getting there because there was nowhere else to go, but he wasn't even scared, in the dream he was all meh about it, it's not until he woke up that he got scared, like, he has seen so many dead bodies and so much fucked up shit his subconscious doesn't even bother with being symbolic anymore.

When I was in college,pre-med,UofA (Bear Down Cats) we went to go watch a autopsy. The corpse was laying on the stainless steel table and suddenly it raised its body up from his waist about 25-30 degrees and let out a huge burp. Man people flipped the fuck out. 2 chicks fainted,I mean turned white after screaming and were out. Dudes next to them caught them and they came to pretty quickly but wanted out of there. The corpse also farted and that was the worst thing I have ever smelled in my life. They later told us that this happens more than you think. Gases built up and they get released. I will never forget that for as long as I live.
