I'm 64 years old and growing up all my clothes and toys all came from Kmart. As a fat kid I saved 27 cents of my allowance every single week to walk to Kmart and get a SUPER SUB with ham. I have great memories of Kmart. Glad my son got to experience it before it went away for good. This video make me smile :) Ty!

As a 80s kid, I have nostalgia for Kmart. Ours was right next door to a Chuck E Cheese, and I mean one of the old Chuck E Cheese restaurants that were big with an arcade, huge dining area where the animatronic music show was, etc. There was a "maze" under the animatronics that kids could go through. It was more like just a long tunnel from what I could remember lol. Man, the 80s were the best as a kid.

Celebrating 55 years of Kmart Australia, with our first store opened in Burwood, Victoria in 1969! Now with 325 stores across Australia and New Zealand and almost 50,000 team members. From humble beginnings our products have found its way into over 90% of Australian households. Peace out.

My company was a manufacturer for both K-Mart and Walmart in the 80's and 90's. The difference in quality standards between the two was astonishing. Walmart would advertise the same item as K-Mart at a much lower price, however they were made to an incredibly lesser standard than K-Mart's item. I've spoken to others in different fields who sold to both companies and they said the same thing.

As a sophomore in high school, I worked in the K-Mart cafe back in 1983. Fun times.

K-mart was the stuff here in Australia when I was around. I was born in 74 so Kmart was always there all my life. They sold the commodore 64, amiga and everything else cool. Records, CD's and everything else.

The first K-mart in Miami, FL opened and all us locals went in to check it out. There was an impressive assortment of winter coats and boots. The hardware department had snow shovels and gas powered snowblowers. The sporting goods department had snow skis and ice skates. I could go on. It turns out that K-mart corporate headquarters had a master list for everything that needed to be stocked for new store locations and no one with any common sense stepped in to stop it. Some of the stuff was sent back north and some was sold at up to 75% off. K-mart lost to Walmart because of incompetent management.

Those prices are 100% real. Maybe that was very early 80s or late 70s, but I remember just 2 or 3 dollars could get me a good amount of food or candy as a kid lol. Having a 100 dollar bill used to be a big deal, and it was a lot of money.

I started laughing when they said how many stores were opened in 976. In 1975, when I was one, we had to move because Kmart bought several properties to build a store. My parents were renting, but the financial incentives helped them purchase their first home.
  • II am 48 years old. I remember growing up in the 80s in the 90s and I still love going to Kmart, especially going to the concession stand and get the popcorn and the icesšŸ˜€

You really do consistently have some of the best content on the internet Mr Boyd. I am still trying to wrap my head around the octopus cemeteries.

I was a teenager all the way through the 80's and watched Woolworth and Kmart both disappear in my small city when Wal-Mart showed up.
  • Garden City Kmart Ford and Middlebelt, Westland Kmart Cherry Hill and Wayne Rd The stores were 4 miles apart. We frequented both!!!!!

Born in 81, Kmart has some amazing sales and deals on things, especially toys like Micro Machines, GI Joes...etc. I loved it.

Kmart was my first job in high school . One thing that made it great was that they sold a decent variety of wines , some by the gallon , and wine coolers . The retired people loved that stuff and would line up about a half an hour before opening , I think it was Sunday mornings when the new sale ad went live to buy up all the bargains . I still have a couple of Kmart stock certificates from their profit sharing program lol .

as a 70s baby, I totally remember going to Kmart and 3D growing up before we had a wallmart. I remember kids used to taunt other kids that their mom's bought their clothes at kmart at the blue light special. haha

I bought my dress for Senior Prom at Kmart. I also bought my ankle length wool coat with faux fur trim for winter there at the beginning of my senior year of high school. It had a silky inner lining to keep it from irritating their skin.

My mom worked for Kmart when I was in high school (late '80s early '90s) they still had a Kmart Cafe and they had the best baked apples! Never have any as good sense!
