  • The Dance of the Dragons, the Blackfyre Rebellions, Robert’s Rebellion… the Targaryen’s greatest enemy has always been themselves.
  • "While Jacaerys was arming peasants with giant sentient napalm machines," - possibly the greatest line I have ever heard in a documentary.

its almost unbelievable that a masterpiece like this is free to watch on yt

Say what you want about George RR Martin, the man surely knows how to create a world and a well thought out history for his stories
  • @Cheka__
This is pretty interesting. They should make a TV series about it.
  • @SoCalChris
The is the most well put together and easy to understand Targaryen timeline of events on the internet.. Seriously, you didn't overcomplicate something that doesn't need more levels of complication.. Others have tried... And failed. Great job.

Hey people, in terms of art and animation, some parts are from our earlier videos made for Kings and Generals 2 years ago on GoT subject. Other parts are new and made for this video only. So there is a difference between styles, map design etc. The reason is this. Happy watching and see you on the next one. 🖐️

Fact check: Rhaenyra was pregnant with her sixth child when she received the news of Aegon's usurpation. By this time she already had five sons: Jacaerys, Lucerys, Joffrey, Aegon, and Viserys; the child she miscarried was her daughter Visenya. Edit: Also, Queen Helaena was Queen Dowager Alicent's daughter, not her daughter-in-law.

I never managed to read the novels by G.R.R. Martin, but I love the world of ice and fire, so for me it is really amazing having the whole history of house targaryen summarized in a documentation. Thanks a lot for the hard work!
  • Rhaenys and Viserys weren't brother and sister. They were cousins. Rhaenys was the first born child of King Jaeherys' third born son Aemon and Viserys was the first born of Jaeherys' 4th born son Baelon whom both were heir apparent before dying before Jaeherys. Rhaenys' line technically had the stronger claim being the first born of an elder son, but since she was female, the great counsel of 101 AC chose Viserys over Rhaenys and her son Leanor due to Viserys being the closest living male relative. They were the only 3 potential claimants to be seriously considered out of roughly a dozen potential heirs. That story is a very important precursor to the Dance of the Dragons.

Seems strange to completely skip over the reign of Maegor the Cruel.
  • "When King Aenys died, he was succeeded not by his son but by his younger brother Maegor. Prince Maegor Targaryen worked as his brother's Hand but he was exiled after one too many disagreements, mainly about dealing with the Faith. Maegor flew back while riding old Balerion and claimed the Iron Throne. He swiftly crushed the Faith Militant presence in Kings Landing then flew to Oldtown and forced the High Septon to disband and outlaw the Faith Militant. To encourage citizen participation, he also put bounties on the heads and scalps of any holy man carrying arms. Many died and many more went back to their septs. He also killed two of his nephews." "The brutality and debauchery of Maegor's six year reign was so well known that when his last surviving nephew Jaehaerys made his bid for the Iron Throne, Maegor was abandoned by most of his supporters. He was found dead, seated on the Iron Throne which he so zealously clung to. And history Maegor Targaryen is forever nicknamed The Cruel."

I remember first reading the book years ago and falling in love with all the intrigue and war. Watching the same story in one of your top-notch videos is a true blessing, I've been waiting for this one. Brilliant job to everyone who worked on this!👏
  • After just finishing the Dance of the Dragons section of Fire and Blood, I get the notification for this video, what timing!

I’ve been waiting for a K&G documentary on the Dance of the Dragons for years….
  • I hope HBO makes a series on the destruction of Valeria and Aegon’s conquest.
  • @bongueta

I heard "...arming peasants with sentient napalm machines..." and literally burst out laughing.
