I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!

Here are some of the best hidden gem movies on Prime Video right now. This list includes some of the most surprising movies I've ever seen on streaming services like The Signal (2007) and Headhunters. There are also several new release movies like The Informer that weren't great enough for theaters but make for good Prime Video movies to watch this weekend. Hopefully this list is packed with movies you've missed!

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Thanks for watching!

Since my hearing is going south I began watching all films with subtitles. I was missing half the dialog. For me this has opened up a entire world of cinema I was missing.

Timestamps would be really nice when you've seen a bunch of the movies already and just want to jump to the ones you haven't.
  • I actually remember the incident that spawned the film, "Compliance." Even without dramatic additions, it was a terrifying story!

Just checked out Attack the Blocks. Pretty enjoyable flick. Was light and didn't take itself too seriously. Always enjoy these recommendations
  • Wow, great list and great editing as always, Darren! Every movie I watched in it is at least decent, so I will definitely check the ones that I didn’t! Totally agree with “Headhunters” being first place - such an underrated gem.

Thanks for these lists! Nowadays, as much as ever, they certainly come in handy as you and I have very similar tastes. I enjoy most of these films as I am a disabled veteran and kinda stuck with media/video games and I don't do the latter - stay safe!

Was just watching 2010: the year we make contact on prime and it’s almost over so this is perfect timing as always, you’re good at that thanks Darren
  • @Busdathead
So appreciate how you bring to light older & underappreciated movies "attack the block" is a great example

Love your lists and really appreciate your TOP 3 in every list. Saves time for us slackers and much appreciated, Darren. Gotta get the popcorn going. May I Make a suggestion: would Prime allow you to put links with each movie ? We could click on that and save it to favorites. That would be so cool and helpful. Worth a call or Email.

Awesome list Darren. I've seen a lot of these movies, but there's a few I'm really interested in checking out now. Thanks.

looks like a great list, certainly gonna check some of these out. A couple more on Prime you might want to see, The History of Time Travel and The Night Eats the World.
  • Interesting fact about The Signal, it was an experimental film that was passed onto 3 directors to do with what they wished. Each director would have the freedom to create a part of the movie, and this would then be edited and given to the next director for the following installment. This is why the film is very peculiar, and if you watch carefully you can see how the film takes a different direction during its course. Unusual method but worked well.

I've been doing 20 recs on my FB recently with brief descriptions. I've done Netflix and Hulu. Just did Prime and with it and Hulu, I tried to do more exclusives. My Prime pics were: The Sound of Metal, You Were Never Really Here, Arrival, Knives Out, Manchester By The Sea, Young Adult, The Portrait of a Lady, The Lighthouse, The Peanut Butter Falcon, Warrior, Midsommar, The Boondock Saints, In A Lonely Place, Seven Psychopaths, American Ultra, Compliance, Leave No Trace, Sunset Boulevard

I loved David Tennant in Bad Samaritan. He's was good at playing the bad guy who is always one step ahead of the main character
