That's why you always get out of the starbase with your ship repaired. You didn't even stop to repair the ship a single time! You were flying around with your hull damaged. Also, best course of action with the Spemin: Raise shields and arm weapons, then nuke them till they glow. Attack first and show no mercy. They are not worth the time.

That's exactly what happened to me last time I played starflight - back in 1988.

1) Always use Aggressive with Spemin. 2) Always keep shields up when encountering races like Spemin.

When you start doing the voice for the Spemin, I either think of Gollum (or whatever his name was, the goblin who holds the one ring) from LOTR or Karras from Thief 2: The Metal Age (though Karras sounded more like Droopy the dog)

Just thought I would add this in here. With the Spemin you should assume a hostile stance. There is much information to be gleaned from them, such as the coordinates to the Uhlek brain world which you can destroy to incapacitate them and not be bothered by them for the rest of the game.

I am happy to report that the Uhlek Brain World has been obliterated and they are no longer a threat. I can now go about collecting my artifacts in relative peace. :)

after you kill a spemin craft once i dont think they ever try to stand up to you again. please keep playing this though. I find more enjoyment watching you play than playing it myself

I feel your pain. I just stayed up till 6 in the morning collecting artifacts only to be destroyed by a Uhlek warship. And of course I hadn't been continuously saving my game progress so now I have to start all over again. Argh. I will save my game progress more frequently now and then destroy their blasted homeworld. Muahahahaha.

Oh thank god I didn't screw up his name... it's been a long time since I last read or even seen the movies for that matter of LOTR. I still think you'd do a excellent voice of Karras of Thief 2: The Metal Age.

I want to play the Amiga version which had the better graphics and unlimited income cheat. I can't for the life of me get the WinUAE amiga emulator to run the game however. It is driving me insane.
