For the ship from E.T. Easter egg in he trailer, I was then thinking that it was a reference to the Star Wars geonosis droid factories, since they look somewhat similar

Subtle thing I noticed do the trailer edit. It almost seems like the XL01 is the ship that completes the hyper jump to the future. But when its landed its the XL15. So they had several years of prototyping and testing 15 models of XL ships before it they could build one to complete this slingshot maneuver. I think a montage of this in the film would really shows how real world engineering projects are iterative, and not just a fully perfected design right away.

I.V.A.N. stands for Internal Voice Activated Navigator. Source is LEGO, check out the LEGO sets based on lightyear, they hold a lot of easter eggs too.

IVAN when read backwards also calls back to another space scifi movie: the Na'vi tribe from Avatar. Also note that at the core of both the Lightyear and Avatar movies are rare rocks that are quite valuable in their worlds.

I love how Chris Evans has now played two people who were suddenly brought to the future ( suddenly at least in their perspective) and now is much much younger than their old friends or lovers. It is a good storyline to go with and Chris Evans sure seems to love those roles lol.
