During the last season, Christie was expected to get more minutes on the court and become a key part of the team's rotation. However, the previous coaching staff didn't utilize him as planned, which many believe hurt the Lakers' chances.
Despite this, Christie maintains a positive outlook. In an interview with Jovan Buha from The Athletic, he said he believes he improved over the year despite the challenges. "Overall, I think it was a very good season for me," Christie said. "It was a season of great growth for me. I faced a lot of adversity in terms of not playing and everything, but still, I think I improved, even though I wasn't getting many live game minutes, so for me, this is a successful season."
Christie is determined to use this experience to his advantage. General Manager Rob Pelinka and Coach JJ Redick have praised his attitude and what he can bring to the team. Last season, Christie averaged only 14 minutes per game, but that number is set to increase significantly.
The Lakers are looking for more support for stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and Christie has the potential to be that key piece. If he continues to improve and get more minutes on the court, he could be crucial in the next four seasons
