  • I see in my mind Boromir proposing the use of the ring to destroy Sauron.

Honestly, I prefer the unscripted! It makes what you’re saying all the more interesting and I’m not looking for someone to be right or wrong. Also, dude I hadn’t actually heard your music till this video, that was fucking awesome

YouTube algorithm comment Bjørnar... ;) I don't think using free AI for album art, and the big music Corps trying to train AI to make tracks to sell for huge profits is quite the same thing. I do see your point entirely - and it's your right to make your own decision of course too. A noble person indeed. I've dreamed for a few years of getting into music making, and I'm buying the things I need over time. So this topic is as relevant for me as it is an established music maker. My situation is also more complicated because I don't ever plan to release on streaming platforms! I'm old, it's complicated lol. I don't stream, I never will. I will pay to download, but prefer to buy CD's and convert them to my DAP. Young people need educating that streaming costs artists lots of income. All famous musicians should be beating that drum tbh. I don't agree with the royalties paid to musicians by such platforms, they are crap. There's an important point I'd like to make. At present, if a new musician uploads their music to streaming platforms they will earn nothing in the beginning. Their streams won't get high enough - that's my understanding. They could work for 2 years or more, and if they don't plan on ever paying to promote their music on platforms - they may see zero return for their hobby. So, from this point of view - streaming platforms can't make any more money from AI tracks than they do for new small independent artists starting out. The new artists provide their work for free, and a small amount of plays pay only the platform regardless for this music. They earn through monthly subscriptions. Sure, they have a cost to host uploads on their servers - but that's about it. So unless a certain threshold is passed - a musician may never get paid? So unless an AI track really attracted huge amounts of positive attention then I don't see how they'd make any more money than getting free tracks from new artists that they don't ever pay royalties on. I hope this makes sense. My guess is, that AI tools will never be made available for "free" with regards to AI making music that can be licensed for sale/stream/distribution. So for it to be worth it - there would need to be a huge amount of streams for this to be worth the cost to the platform. I believe money-making AI will be supplied at a high premium. It would also likely require those involved to pay a high % to the AI provider too. Otherwise this style of marketing won't be worth doing. But - as you say, sadly it is coming. AI is going to take lots of jobs that humans do. There should be laws against AI being used for this purpose. Only the highest people with the most power can change what is about to happen to human opportunities being stripped away.
  • I suspect these AI music sites also threaten the bottom line of synch and stock libraries unless they plan to install an 'AI vending machine' on their sites. It is frustrating and angering to see the recent developments. Myself and many musicians have put in a lot work and study to create music. I don't use pre made loops, rare I use sample packs, I write my own presets for my synths, sound design, my own harmonies, melodies and so forth. In my mind that imparts value. I had considered taking some major short cuts to make more production music, but not now.
  • I think your music is great. But if you aren't artistically inclined (visually), I think it would be very difficult to create album art. Btw, which site did you use to create the previous album art?

I don’t really care because no one can’t stop change. Well I don’t make money from art or making music so may be that’s why I don’t care in first place but one thing is for sure. We will not stop the advancement of AI. Companies with a lot of money are going to make even more money with AI. So I’m not gonna lose sleep over it.
