Hey I'm mey:3
I love me some Minecraft video essays so I wanted to do one about Herobrine (very short tho) I love the guy what can I say.
I just wanted to tell you how good the legend of Herobrine is great example of psychological horror, bcs I'm sick of people saying it was ridiculous that people used to fear Herobrine.

anyway mental health is in the drain sorry for the lack of uploads but I really appreciate the love on the previous video :3

Subscribe if u enjoyed the video :P

I love how Minecraft unintentionally uses paranoia as a weapon. Paranoia is, honestly, the strongest type of fear (in my opinion). You think are alone. Are you really? You know you are, but are you sure? Is the fog empty? Was that noise just a cow or a chicken? Paranoia leads you to wonder what might happen. What monster is hiding and what does it look like? Are you safe? Is it watching you? Are you truly living in an empty, nearly infinite world? Are you truly the only one?

This is such a good video! I really want someone to make a proper Herobrine mod. One where Herobrine would almost never be sighted, and only his handiwork could be found. Ideally, the mod would be disguised as something else like a performance mod.

here's my take on a herobrine movie: he doesn't eventually hop out of the game ring style and starts chasing you. he just keeps following you in the internet space. he finds you in other games, social media, websites. he's like a stalker, but he never tries to kill you, he just keeps making you more and more paranoid until you somehow commit suicide

miss the good ol days of herobrine sighting videos
  • I like your take on it, basically what is scary about Herobrine is the 'unknown' aspect of it. This was especially scary on the Alpha versions of Minecraft when Herobrine/White Eyes rumors started to show up. Back in the Alpha days, basically no one knew about how computers work, let alone Minecraft, they didn't know that Herobrine "wasn't possible" or "didn't exist" especially because Notch would add updates randomly without telling WHAT he had implemented in the game (Seecret Updates) Most people were scared to death thinking Notch might've added Herobrine, or that it actually 'entered' the game in some paranormal way, and a lot of people just stopped playing. But there were some skeptics. I love Herobrine because he isn't like other "scary" mods nowadays, most horror mods are some random monsters who scream and run towards you randomly, this is NOT scary, it's just building tension and then jumpscaring you, with Herobrine, the tension is never released with a jumpscare, you just keep building up suspense until you cannot handle it anymore and just quit the game... Underrated channel fr, nice video and your personality is great!

It's nice to think that kids today are still believing and/or just scared of old game creepypastas

Hollywood would probably make their own shitty version of a Herobrine movie, with chliches, stereotypes and all.
  • @ZacharyOAO
Underrated as hell, very nice video (Edit: Skinny armed herobrine is cursed)

I think the reason why herobrine was very frightening was that we knew nothing about and it was unknown for us. Same thing goes for other fears and phobias like fear of darkness or fear of monsters. Our brain just assumes the worst and make up fictional stuff that makes it scarier than what it is!

  • As a 14 yr old who keeps getting scared looking at caves... And constantly looking to the sides of my screen... I can say, he scares me using imagination the most...

I remember back in the day when I first picked up Minecraft in fourth grade, everyone was afraid of this monster Herobrine. The strange thing is, instead of making me scared to load into my world, he intruiged me and stimulated my curiosity. I soon became obsessed with trying to hunt him down and kill him in my worlds to the point where I was searching up videos on how to find him and spawn him daily. Eventually I downloaded the mod pack just so I could make it a reality. The idea of hunting down and killing this boogeyman that was invoking fear in the Minecraft community made him this mysterious and powerful being I wanted to learn more about You could say I had an actual encounter with him, but it may have just been my friend pranking me on his server (nametags were off). Upon spawning in, I saw a half chopped down tree and a crafting bench close by. I assumed it was just my friends' and proceeded to gather wood for myself. Upon crafting wood tools, I look up only to see a Steve with his back turned to me. Again, assuming it was my friend I casually walked up to him, leading to him slowly turning around just to reveal his face to me. It was Herobrine. He swiftly pulled out a sword and began sprinting towards me, I landed a few blows and ran into a cave system where I eventually lost him. But if it really was true, it was an honour to meet and duel u Mr. Herobrine sir ;)
  • @HardTale_Sans.
2 Times in my life i thought i met Herobrine: Numero Uno - Jungle temple, i thought it was Herobrine structure. Dos - Piglin in armor, give him netherite helmet, diamond chestplate, netherite leggins and boots. then go far away and look at him, I acidentally made that and i jumped off my chair.
  • @NoTimef_r
I'm unfazed by random dudes with white eyes that just stares at me, I'm concerned about the kind of dude that has the psychopathic tendencies to randomly end my life 💀
  • @sarahsimons1965
When I was a little kid I would leave out gifts in chests for Herobrine because I thought he must be lonely bc everyone always ran away from him. I still refused to go in caves though lol
  • @overanalyst241
what made herobrine good is that he wasn't this white eyed cryptid haunting your worlds. he was but he wasn't. he was every door you forgot you've left open. he was every footstep in a cave that could've easily been yours. he was a cave sound you've never heard before so you were left wondering if it's normal. he was the rock formations in taiga that looked just a little bit too symmetrical. he was the figure in the fog. the horror of herobrine wasn't knowing you were haunted, it was not being sure whether or not you are. modern minecraft creepypasta focuses on jumpscare horror, when minecraft was never about that. what's creepy about minecraft is that you are alone... or are you really? it's a shame herobrine too got ruined with time.
  • Fantastic video! You explained the whole nature and psychological horror potential which Herobrine still has. He is what hooked me into such horror stuff and into Minecraft as well. I love him, he is so mysterious yet so understood somehow. You made a video about a difficult topic in less than 6 minutes and explained it better than anyone else could've. You deserve alot more subscribers and support! (Btw this is the first video I have seen of you and I can already tell you are great!) :D
  • @lennyface6828
