Buy Me A Pony is Spiderbait's entry to the list of songs rock bands have written about being ripped off by record companies.

Kram the drummer sang on most of the earlier songs but they interchange vocalists most of the time. Janet has really grown with her vocals over the time

I think Travis and Suzi checked out Spiderbait a while back doing a cover of Ram Jam's Black Betty, but if it's Janet's vocals you prefer Jon , then their song Stevie is the fix you're looking for, you'll love it

It's kinda funny how different Kram and Janet's vocal styles are. It really gives Spiderbait basically two identities, even on the album that Buy Me a Pony came off they also had Calypso which was an even bigger chart success despite not being as big on the Hottest 100 the following year although the top 20 of the Hottest 100 of 97 being possible the strongest ever didn't help. So you have Kram's more traditional rock vocals and Janet's more lighter vocals, which does kinda make it hard to recommend Spiderbait to newer people because someone might love their version of Black Betty and not feel Glockenpop or vice versa.

When it comes to Spiderbait in Australia, it’s impolite to choose a better vocalist. Choose by song, fine, but the very essence of Spiderbait is the duality.
