Remember when Hollywood tried to make Chris Klein a leading man coming off American Pie when he really was just a diet Keanu Reeves, which is saying something.
-
THANK YOU BILLY "Stone Cold Austin" GET IT TOGETHER KOREY
-
I knew that Billy laughing at that cartoon sound effect was gonna be the intro π π π π.
-
That night vision scene. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?! .....Oh, look it's Slipknot, Paul Heyman and Shane McMahon.
-
I was already laughing at the sound effect, but I really lost it when Martin said "I watched it on Tubi and yes it did that." πππ
-
The 1975 James Caan rollerball was a classic
-
I remember LL Cool J had another movie coming out later that year: Deliver Us From Eva. He was on a talk show, I think it was Tonight Show, and he was promoting Deliver Us From Eva. LL Cool J straight up was like βcome see THIS movie because ROLLERBALL SUCKED!β π€£
-
Apparently, some audience testers and executives were not happy with the original chase scene McTiernan did or what it was originally supposed to be. So they needed to reshoot everything involving the chase, but ran out of budget. That's why they did the scene in night vision. And because they gave up on the movie altogether, Hanna-Barbera sound effects.
-
Fun fact about Paul Heymen. After stone cold was released from the WCW (for injuries). Paul would hire stone cold just to talk on the mic. It was there stone cold delivered one of the βColdestβ promos of all time. A speech that will rise testosterone levels by 9000. A speech that will make you quit your piece of crap job. He literally manifested everything that was going to happen. The character of Stone Cold was born that night and you can watch on it on YouTube.

Chris Klein is basically the bootleg Keanu Reeves π€£ Man i saw this in the theater when it came out (Before seeing the original) and It was absolutely atrocious, and I kept thinking to myself, this movie has no longevity or replay value. It's stuck in that weird wacky world of the early 2000's, even though a good majority of Dystopian stories are somewhat timeless to a degree. The behind the scenes drama definitely sheds a light on why this movie was executed so poorly.
-
That 5 minute Rollerball-esque scene in Alita:Battle Angel is cooler than this entire film π
-
I remember this is when I learned to cringe for the first time at the theater. This lead actor for some reason was pushed after American Pie and has the charisma of a gravestone.
-
Paul Hyman π I love when non wrestling fans mess up shit
-
Apparently the 70's version is Keanu Reeves' favorite action movie. ....Makes one wonder if a Rollerball screening originated the first legendary Keanu "whoa"
-
I remember Roger Ebert laughing at Jean Reno's plan being "TO GET THAT NORTH AMERICAN CABLE DEAL!"
-
Original Rollerball is a MASTERPIECE Show respect. Sci fi at its FINEST.
-
Man, when the remake ages worse than the aggressively wood-paneled, popped collar, deep-V, perm-having 70s original...something went WRONG.
