I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 36 years old, l took medication for 10 years, I reversed it, I am 67 years old now and haven’t taken any medication for 20 years. I did by learning and a lot of discipline, lifestyle, diet and exercise. Like all humans I have a sweet tooth and occasionally I eat some sweets, but I mainly stick to berries and I love them, like I said discipline. I use monk fruit and maple syrup very seldom, nobody is perfect, but I stick to my healthy lifestyle because at the end, it’s worth it. Thanks for the valuable information, I love your channel, I always learn something.

Good Lord, these videos are SO GOOD. It is hard to believe how knowledgeable Dr. Liu is, and how fortunate we all are that she is willing to share all this on youtube. I send links to some of these videos to my nutritionist that I work with. Being on a Whole Foods Plant Based diet for the last 6 years has completely changed my life. My cholesterol is at a healthy level, my heart afib has disappeared, my sleep apnea has disappeared, my IBS has disappeared, I've lost 85 lbs, and even my asthma has largely disappeared. Adding to my WFPB lifestyle with this kind of understanding is invaluable. I am going to throw out my jug of agave nectar LOL! THANK YOU DR. LIU!!!! Diet and activity go hand in hand, and are deeply essential to our health. Dr. Liu is helping to make that point in such a profound way. This is by far the best health channel on youtube.

Anything is better that High Fructose Corn Syrup. I avoid anything that has HFCS.

**sigh** ok so fruit is good for me. It imoroves: insulin resistance, belly fat... And to sweeten, I can have stevia, erythritol (no more than 1 Tbsp per day; 4 Tbsp u may have issues), agave or honey, but keep it to a minimum. Stay away from aspartame sucralose & saccharin. I suppose I should watch the vid again.

My great-grandmother was overweight for the last several decades of her life. She ate white flour, white sugar, and lots of animal fat every single day because she was a farm wife. She lived well into her 80s and when she died she had no diseases.

Dr., I come here often to listen. You give me information that drives my desire and need to change my diet. It’s a full time struggle, but I persist! (As women do..)

Here is my question about stevia that no one has been able to answer. When you buy fruit, and see that a bug might have chewed a little on some of the fruit, that is a good thing as it is usually a sign that the fruit is organic. But with stevia, I have been growing it for years, no bugs ever chew on the leaves. Why not? If the bugs don’t want it, should I be using it? So, for that reason, I haven’t grown it for two years. Also, the stevia in the stores, even when it says that it is raw….isn’t. It is green. It’s a leaf. But the store stevia is always white. Nope, that’s not right. Plus, what you buy in the store doesn’t even taste like stevia.
  • She didn`t research the side effects of allulose. One of it`s side effects is recurring UTI`s. If you don`t have a problem with that,,then OK. But I`m 76 years old and never had a UTI before I used Allulose. Then I went through four antibiotic regimens before it finally went away. Take heed.
  • Would be curious to know your thoughts on PURE Maple Syrup, Dates, and date powder for sweetening.
  • @MsCjmaxi
I'm doing a happy dance that you did this video on sweeteners. I hope you will talk more about the rare sugars! Especially how they affect the liver.
  • @brave0000
She said that she uses manuka honey for wound healing........but her answer for this video comes at the very end of this video, she said that eating whole fruit is the best sweetener.
  • Since I don't have diabetes or obesity, I just continue using real sugar & sometimes real maple syrup. I have cut back significantly & really try to avoid HFCS, but can't stand any artificial sweeteners & they all aggravate my IBS immediately. Sugar doesn't do that. So, sugar it is 🤷‍♀️
  • @aija5810
Thank you for your best advice information 👍
  • Did I miss a video or did you cover maple syrup somewhere? I put 100% pure from USA & Canadian trees (do I trust the label?) in my coffee. Would love to hear how the body accepts that. Thanks so much for your videos, Looking forward to the next one!
  • Thank you so much for the effort put into these videos. I have come to all this very late and your detailed, informative and personal explanations are a welcome relief from the YouTube ocean of opinion and hype. I think all your peers around the country should be aware of the great job you do educating their patients. My doc’s certainly don’t get the time for this kind of education which is critical for people seriously wanting to change their diets and lifestyle. I let them know you’re out there! Keep up the great work!

Geez, scared to eat anything. I'll need to carry a notebook around with me anytime I go to buy or eat anything with this list. Our gov't is full of greed. You have to be your own advocate. Even your doctor is may not be looking out for you. Thank you for the information. Subbed.
  • @juls2334
Wow! Sucrolose is scary! Thanks for breaking down this this toxic sweetener! Great video as usual! 💗💗💗💗
  • @mitsronnoc
