The ending actually made me sad. Little kitty cat just wanted to race. Kitty didn't ask to fall through 7 circles of hell.

At the end, I really wanted that bug spooky guy to just do his creepy walk over and then just push your cart over the line.

Tried my best to figure out what the cat said. 1. Dont be scare__ . Wont hurt (you?) 2. The waters here are soothing 3. __ dont scare the fishes off

Here’s what I managed to pick up from the gray cat in the city level. When fishing off of the side of the road: “Hey! Don’t scare the fishes off!” For every other interaction: 1st time - “Don’t be scared! I won’t hurt you” 2nd time - “The waters here are soothing”

You know what's the most sad? All of that was the first lap.

You know, just once, I want to see one of these "Haunted" or "Tell the story of some horrible event with cute imagery" games where the ghost is the one scared and confused, and the player helps them find peace and move on, either by playing the game, or by "spending time" with the ghost.
  • I think my favorite thing in any of these "retro" style horror games is when you see the monster and they move nothing like everything else in the game Just having a higher frame rate really makes it feel like it doesn't belong

The 1/3 at the top was for Laps, not position. You are alone here.

Sometimes I wish these sorta games would have some more buildup to them. Imagine if this game played like a normal, fun little mario kart clone with perfectly functional and beatable levels, with some minor oddities happening here and there. Then you get to the final cup and things start to go completely bonkers.
  • Mandatory theory comment: I think this is about a driving accident. 1st course doesn't give us much aside from the crashed car and child's drawing, but I think of it as the inciting incedent. You can't make the counter go up no matter how many laps you drive, doesn't it make you want to *break away*? You only progress by *breaking the rules*. 2 and 3 are similar in that they show affected people. 2 shows us a girl afraid to be on the same level as us, brushing it off as just mud she's freaked out by despite us never getting mud on us. The bunny on route 3 is clearly a victim. They say they can't feel anything, but once the world goes wonky, he's lying prone and only repeating that he feels something. Route 4 is. Obvious. Corpses lying prone, screaming, drawing implies the corpse is the kid's friend, the works. Room 5 is similar. You have to hit balloons except some are blood filled and induce screaming children. What's interesting is the character there, who isn't supposed to be there and when she says she's not ready to wake up, she explodes like a balloon. Our character also explodes like a balloon. A symbol of death maybe. Then we have route 6. A partially submerged road. No one else, just us and a faceless cat. I think the cat is a representation of us, or how we see ourselves after the accident; Faceless, incomprehensible, and as the translation implies, scary. And they see us in a similar light as we're scaring the fish. Then route 7. The scene of the crime according to the teeth pile. We're murdered by our victim (the teeth in the pile likely belong to the monster by the flashing images) and we're just left with "Congratulations: You Won the Game!" As if the game is saying "You didn't have to do this, but you did! You caused so much death! Are you proud of yourself?" At least that's my interpretation lol.

Part of me is curious to see what would have happened if Manly jumped the spike strip at the end. If you notice, the spikes dont go up until AFTER he runs over it.
  • @99sins
This goes up with that hamster chef game on the list of horror games I wish would be done legit because it seems fun to play. Besides that the balloon popping with the noise of children in distress was a really good way to be disturbing.

If I had a nickel for every time there was a horror game featuring a purple cat in 2024, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Okay, the sound of kids screaming/crying when some the balloons popped really rattled me. I’m loving the Mario kart 64 look of this game though. They nailed down the little details so perfectly.

Through my knack for pattern recognition, I think I deciphered the messages. 15:39 "Don't be scared! I wont hurt you." "The waters here are soothing." 16:43 "Hey! Don't scare the fishes off!" "Hey! Don't scare the fishes off!" 19:08 "Don't be scared! I won't hurt you." "The waters here are soothing."

I don't know if this actually supports multiplayer, but actually having that option appear on the menu helped a lot for the feel tbh.
