This is the WestRock paper mill in Panama City that blows a 10in diameter Sinker Davis gong whistle 4 times a day! 7am, 12pm, 12:30pm and 3:30pm through out the day. This whistle has been blowing since the 1930s! This will soon come to a sad end as the mill is permanently closing. Enjoy!

  • i love factories and industrial things like this seeing those smokestacks and hearing that whistle man its just the best
  • Definitely a sad time as my time in Panama City is coming to an end. I have enjoyed my time at WestRock over the past 18 years and I am going to miss my friends. Will be relocating to another mill in Michigan. Godspeed to my fellow coworkers and friends! A sad ending 😢

The one in Cornerbrook Newfoundland sounds a little higher and echoes down the valley because there are mountains on both sides.

Why does this thing even have a whistle in the first place? Don’t get me wrong it’s cool and all, i’m just curious.
