Final Fantasy: Top 10 usable summons that only appear once

Disclaimer: this video shows the only times these summons appeared as usable “summons” in the main Final Fantasy releases (as such some of these may also appear in Dissidia/Dimensions titles) some of these summons have appeared as bosses or mounts in other renditions such as FF14 and some have been referenced in other games in either dialogue or cutscenes however have only been usable summons once (at least as of the date of making this video this may change with future releases)
Edit: at the time of publishing i was under the impression that FF11 servers shut down when console support ended it has since come to my attention that you can still play it on PC so Atomos technically does in fact appear in 2 titles.

Zodiark from 12 Zodiac Age is my favorite. Final Eclipse looks epic. Followed by Anima.

I don't know what I expected of Anima, but, after that entrance and that setup, I sure wasn't expecting her to just go for a good ol beatdown

A good portion of these are reoccurring in the series, both as summons and creatures. It just depends on if your criteria is the mainline games or not.

Wow! Thanks! Squaresoft really knew how to maximize what the underpowered ps1 can do.I've forgotten how they've improved graphically speaking from ff7 then ff8 to ff9. Stunning job!

Little surprised Eden was just an honorable mention. Wasn't it the first attack in the entire series to be capable of breaking the 9999 limit with a single hit?

The reason Anima is so powerful is that in the context of the story she is the villainous Seymour’s mother and she knew she was dying so she took her child on the pilgrimage and became his Final Aeon to destroy Sin but seeing the power he decided he’d be better becoming a Final Aeon to become the next Sin. So she’s so powerful as was created as a way to protect her child, as she was dying, but also saw how dangerous her sons craving of power had become and vows to help Yuna put an end to him.

Did Knights of the Round show up in some other game? Because as far as I know it was only in FFVII. And it is one of the most lethal summons in the game, it doesn't just hit once.

The Espers from FF12 come back as once-per-battle summons in FFTA2 and most of them also return in Revenant Wings. What's really interesting is that Zalera's abilities are different each time. In FF12, Zalera uses Holy in addition to instakill attacks (which includes Condemnation in the original version) and only uses holy magic in Revenant Wings, including Holyja. In contrast, he deals dark damage and status effects in FFTA2.

Atomos is also a summon you can get in FF11. So, that one appears in two mainline FF games. Alternatively you can get Cait Sith as a summon in FF11 as well, but I think that's also a summon in FF6 GBA.

Feel like they missed something with siren. She should be a mainstay water summon.

Anima was just like the ridiculously OP summon you bring out just for the cinematic. It was essentially X's equivalent of VII's Knights of The Round.

The Eidolons from FFXIII seemed to me like Final Fantasy meets Transformers with the way they would change into vehicles, animals, etc.

Honestly, my top 10 probably would have had a completely different set of Aeons, with the exception of Anima, who would also be my #1, and probably doomtrain. But Ark would have been on there FOR SURE.
