Welsh rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit has said making it in the NFL would be the "most proud moment of my life".

The former Gloucester, Wales and British Lion player quit rugby in January to switch to American football, and the 23-year-old is now completing a 10-week training and development camp in Bradenton, Florida.

The initiative, which is part of the NFL's International Player Pathway, is designed to attract players from outside the US to American football.

Excited he’s playing for the best team in the NFL !!! Welcome to Chief Kingdom !
  • @caval141
Good luck to him. Hes certainly got the determination and talent to succeed. 👍

We can't wait to have him. He'll be a nice addition to the team.

I think it's great that he and many European athletes and fans in general are liking our sport too. So many times we are sort of a punch line from people who don't understand our NFL game. Things like, "why do they call if football when soccer is football" or "We don't wear helmets and pads in Rugby so why all of the pads and protection in the NFL" but to see other countries now starting to realize how great our game truly is great. I think this rugby player will transition nicely. I don't like the Chiefs though so that's all we need is ANOTHER target for PM to throw to.

What I like about him is his ambition. He might not be the fastest but his desire might take him further. It will be interesting.

LRZ could sit on a practise squad of the next 10 years and make more money than he would in rugby most likely
  • Jordan Mailata is a clear example that this transition is possible. He's now an well established player in the O-Line for the Philadelphia Eagles!
  • @taiyah_byron
Good on him for getting invited in the international program. But he'll be back in rugby quick smart.

LRZ will be a hit in the NFL at WR. Hope he joins the Browns. Go Louis!

    Welcome to the kingdom LRZ!

3:24 his face when they ask him a completely irrelevant question about Taylor Swift

I’m just hear to read the British news footers about what they got going on. A dude hunting people in East London with a crossbow?? Crazy stuff😂
  • @CesarNoelQ
His transition is easier since his father has played American football so he knows the sport so he is basically aware about the nuance of American football.

Every one thinking he won’t make it at least he’s having a go I bet there’s few NFL players would make it playing rugby too 😮
