THE ANTHEM

This is the day which the Lord hath made: we will rejoice and be glad in it.
O praise the Lord of heav'n: praise him in the height.
Praise him, all ye angels of his: praise him, all his host.
Praise him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars and light.
Let them praise the Name of the Lord.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee: to keep thee in all thy ways.
The Lord himself is thy keeper: the Lord is thy defence upon thy right hand;
so that the sun shall not burn thee by day: neither the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: yea, it is even he that shall keep thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in: from this time forth for evermore.
He shall defend thee under his wings.
Be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart, and put thou thy trust in the Lord.

    This song means a lot to me, I heared it one day after I got the result of having cancer... I was so touched by the melody and lyrics... and I was thinking that when I get married to my boyfriend that I would want to have this played on my wedding day. I had not told my boyfriend at that time about my cancer, a couple of days later when I told him, he asked me to marry him. We are getting marriend in one week and we will have this song at the end of our ceremony. The song means everything to us!

    As soon as the music started, I knew this was composed by the one , the only John Rutter. No one does it better than he. He truly is a gift from God to the world of music. I've been a huge fan of this man for many years.

    Love this wonderful piece. The faces of the boys in the choir are so sweet! All scrubbed up to sing for the Sovereign. The Wedding music was very well chosen. Loved to see the beautiful couple saying their vows, perfect day for all of us.

    John Rutter is an amazing composer of our modern era... This song is beautiful and utterly charming... It is among my favourites now along with his Christmas song... Simply wonderful... Congratulations once more to their Royal Highnesses Prince william and Catherine Duke and Duchess of Cambridge... A long and happy life to you both... :0)x

    His arrangements are always stunning. We sang his arrangement of "For the Beauty of the Earth" when I was in high school and it was always a favorite of our chorus. Rutter never disappoints!
  • Though life is filled with happiness and sadness, this song remind us that , there is a day for all of us that we will rejoice. Blessed be the name of the Holy God. Thanks for Westminster Abbey Choir for this beautiful song.
