The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade began as a Christmas celebration in 1924. The 2.5-mile route features thousands of performers, including musicians, Broadway actors, and the Rockettes. Estimates say the parade costs about $11 million to $13 million to stage.

If you're planning to go, it's on November 28, Thursday at 9:00 AM, 77th Street, Central Park West, New York. Arrive there at 6:00 AM to get a good view of the parade.

It’s a family tradition for us to go into the city to see the parade. When my dad was alive we would view the parade from his office along the route. We had a nice view high from the windows. I remember what happened to the Barney float

I always loved watching it on tv. I wouldn’t mind seeing it in person as least once in my life but I mostly would prefer watching it on tv
