The Line that goes Fire on the Mountain Run Boys Run, Devil is in the House of the Rising Sun, Chicken in the Bread Pan Picking Out Dough, Granny Does Dog Bite... Those are the titles of actual Blue Grass songs. This insinuates he played all those songs in the battle. The difference between a violin and a fiddle is, a violin has strings and a fiddle has "strangs" lol
  • My uncle played fiddle with the Bob Wells band, he said the difference between a violin and a fiddle is simple, a violin will never have beer spilled on it during a performance.

I met him when I was in the Army overseas. He treated everyone of us soldiers like we were the Stars. Where ever you came from he had a story about that town. Great man
  • @CaseyinTexas
When Charlie was playing the Devil's portion, you could hear each tortured soul screaming in agony.
  • @joehodgett3376
this is one of the few country songs I've loved in my entire headbanger life, my dad loved this one and because of him God rest his soul so do I
  • True history. Radio stations in the 70's had a problem with the lyrics "Son of a Bitch"......until Christians said, "It's okay. He is giving the Devil that title." But they did have a version that said "Son of a gun" that was played often.

A violin has strings, and a fiddle has STRANGS

It gave me chills when he played the devil's part. He literally made it sound evil! What an amazing artist
  • Charlie was a great American patriot, and he is sorely missed. We need more men like him.
  • Got to see Charlie Daniels Band about 15 years ago. at the end of the last song, he played that fiddle so hard till the bow stings finally just gave up. he threw that bow to the audience, grabbed another and went at it again till that bow's strings gave up. he did that till strings on the fiddle started to brake. wished he was still with us cause i would so go see him again. RIP Charlie
  • @williamoneal4112
Interesting fact about Charlie Daniels....he has played a fiddle so fast that the bow started smoking

The difference in a violin and a fiddle is how it's tuned and played. My grandpa gave his fiddle to my aunt, who has long played it as violin at her church. There is a sequel to this song, which is featured on the Mark O'Connor album "Heroes". The song is called "The Devil Comes Back To Georgia", and features Johnny Cash as the storyteller, with Charlie Daniels and Mark O'Connor on fiddles, and Marty Stuart as Johnny, and Travis Tritt as the Devil.

I've always been a metalhead but when i had a chance to see Charlie live i had to go, and was not disappointed at all. Goosebumps almost the entire show
  • That was cool, I agree with the guy below that your reactions are always great. A violin has strings, a Fiddle has strangs, depends on who's playing it🙃

Chris Ledoux was a legit rodeo Champion. Was also a great country singer. Please check out "This Cowboy's Hat".

The main difference between the violin and a fiddle is the height and shape of the bridge. The bridge is the piece that holds the strings off the body of the instrument. The bridge of a violin is higher and rounder because it is meant to play 1-2 notes at a time, whereas a fiddle, being lower and flatter, can be played to produce 1, 2, or even 3 notes at once. Also, most music for violins is at a slower pace to draw out a note but, as you just saw, a fiddle is usually played rather fast. A flatter bridge means you don't have to move your arm up and down quite as far to go from one string to the opposite side.

He was such a great performer and a cool guy. I bumped into him at a show once, literally. I was drunk stumbling through the crowd at the fair in Rhinebeck, New York and not paying much attention to where I was going when I hit something that didn't move, it was Charlie.
  • @pegasus5287
I love how he shreds his bow by the end of the song. I wonder how many he goes through during a show
  • @marklane7791
The difference between a violin and a fiddle is that it is a fiddle when you buy it from the second hand store and it is a violin when you sell it back.
  • @JoshieMadhatt
Little known fact: there's actually a sequel to this song. It has a few different guests: Travis Tritt as the Devil, Marty Stuart as Johnny, Johnny Cash as the narrator, Charlie Daniel did the Devil's fiddle performance and the icing on the cake is they had this incredible fiddle player named Mark O'Conner doing Johnny's performance and HOLY SHIT. Lyrically and just in terms of cultural status and importance to country/southern rock the original is obviously best but the fiddle playing in the sequel is next level
