  • Cloud in 1997 "Aerith is gone, she will never talk, laugh, cry or get angry" Cloud in 2024 "This girl are sick"

“Don’t weep. Your tears are empty. Just like you.” That’s got to be the coldest line I’ve ever heard the villain say to the hero…

    original-sad rebirth-confusing
  • @chas2052
They really edge’d us thinking shit could have been different 💀

" Aerith is gone. Aerith will never talk… never smile… cry… or get angry… ever again " You cut out the part after the cinematic of OG FF7 which make her death even more saddening. Every party member also comes to mourn her one by one, they don't just throw her in the water after she's been slashed lol.

We can even see the cloud of the classic version (1997) moving his mouth as if he's saying something at 6:09 there's where he says his dialogue "Aeris will no longer talk, cry... of get angry..." "what about us? what are we supposed to do?" "what about my pain?" "my fingers are tingling, my mouth is dry. my eyes are burning!"
  • @jucksalbe
So they made a scene that was about Aerith into a scene that's mostly about Sephiroth (and Cloud).

the bit scary thing about the Remake timeline version is that the reason why we do not see the stab is only because we are seeing it from Cloud's perspective which currently he is complete denial so he made up this entire fake scenario where he did block it in his head strong enough that he actually believes it happened.

i think tbh they kinda fail the execution of aerith death.. its more confusing than sad
  • @reinaldosp5498
I honestly prefer the original sequence of 1997, that was more emotional and impactant. This new sequence is so confuse and creates mores questions than anwers

The reason why we don’t see Aerith’s water burial is because we’re seeing everything from Cloud’s POV, and he genuinely thinks he saved Aerith from her death. Obviously she still did die based on the other characters’ emotions, I highly doubt they were that sad just because Sephiroth got away again. We’ll probably see what really happened when Cloud gets his real memories back in the 3rd game.

the OG was way more brutal on killing Aerith stabbing scene than rebirth
  • @Tovii2022
I remember playing this game back on PlayStation 1… I spent so much time grinding to get Aerith to be a strong healer/caster and then she just got killed off. I was crying!
  • Why skip the part where cloud says aerith will no longer laugh, or cry
  • @Azzie_S
It's pretty much straight up vandalism. One is effective, unambiguous, iconic and carries the game's theme of loss. The new one is a storm of nonsense, a 12-car pile up of confusion, from start to finish, even the arbiters trying to stop Cloud approaching Aerith doesn't make sense, Cloud literally does that in the original. The new one both wants to kill Aerith but also keep her as a character whenever they want her to show up.

This ending is... hurt so much, it's makes me cry. 😢
  • @finalfandussy7
5:49 Sephiroths laugh may just be the single most infuriating sound I have ever heard
  • @purefoldnz3070
this is how they handled it? They didnt even show her death. How did they mess this up so badly?
