The craziest thing about Dante's Inferno is that it is actually a poem! It's hard to tell from the english translation, but in Italian, the language sounds so beautiful! I had no idea there was a film based on the poem - I've gotta check it out now!!!

But as a literary scholar, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out Dante's Inferno is not a novel in the traditional sense, it is a narrative work and considered one of the greatest literary achievements in the Western canon. Dante's Inferno is actually the first part of a larger epic poem called The Divine Comedy (La Divina Commedia), written by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri in the early 14th century. It's comprised of three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Each part explores different aspects of the afterlife according to Christian theology, with the journey through Hell depicted in the Inferno.
