More PoE Farming Tips! ziggyd.tv/featured/the-path-of-exile-farming-guide…
In this video I take a look at what items are worth picking up in Path of Exile. Which currency orbs, gear types and other drops are actually worth getting while farming.

SUMMARY:
- All currency items except scrolls once you 'have enough'.
- All Blue and quality flasks. (Surgeouns prefix vendors for Alchemy Shards)
- All skill/support gems you need or don't have and ALL quality gems.
- Blues only if you need them in the early game.
- Rares you need + all rares in Open Beta to build up currency.
- Whites with three linked RGB sockets to vendor for Chromatic orbs.
- Whites of base item type you need with good sockets.
- Whites with 5 or 6 linked sockets.
- White jewellery, belts and quivers with high implicit values.
- Uniques of course!

you might add always picking up 6 socket items regardless of their links, since you can vendor them for 7 jeweller's orbs.
  • @craftedskiller
Are you able to make an updated version of this? I has been a very long time and I think, it is time to make an update on what to grab and what not to grab anymore.
  • @ZiggyDGaming
Ah! I probably should have mentioned that! You use them to craft with. Either transmute/alteration them or chance/alchemy them. I have a video on the crafting items and how they work if you want more info on that.

Today's PoE video is a bit longer but hopefully it's got some good info you guys get value from. Please feel free to add in your own suggestions (especially if there are any niche recipes you aim for) and feel free to ask questions, they often inspire videos like this one so I appreciate it!

I've made a few videos on good places to farm but here is a list: Act 1 - The ledge Act 2 - The Forest - The Western Forest - Fellshrine - Waterfall caves Remember diminishing returns start when you are 3 levels above the zone.

Great guide, especially for the fact that I doubt I would have given a second thought to white items before looking at this, but checking for multiple sockets and then simply upgrading the rarity of the item is a solid type that I likely would have entirely skipped over.

There are microtransactions for both additional premium and standard stash tabs on the official site. You can get a few more for less than $5 and it supports the game's development!
  • @ZiggyDGaming
You don't always upgrade gems. Sometimes you purposefully don't level them to avoid increasing mainstat requirements or mana costs. A common one in closed beta was lightning arrow as back then levelling it up increased the mana costs by quite a lot.

Pretty much all of Normal and Cruel difficulty just use what you find and keep any currency rarer than Alchemy Orbs. As for crafting, craft good blue items if you need them and if you are desperate use an alchemy orb occasionally. Though of course the overiding anser is to have fun with it and feel free to explore how the crafting system works with a bit of experimenting. It's the best way to learn it.

Great idea Verno, seems a few people want a similar guide. I might be able to make one right before the open beta wipe so I can put all the currency thats going to disappear to good use!
  • @ZiggyDGaming
Ah thanks Quiestre, that was one I hadn't thought about. 6 sockets, even unlinked aren't too common and they are definitely worth picking up for the jewelers. And yeah, all maps, I forgot that category! I may pick up quality weapons/armor right at the start of open beta but I find whetstones/armorers scraps aren't that scarce, even just from drops. 20% ones are always worth it though (if you notice them) as they trade directly for an orb.
  • @ZiggyDGaming
I was thinking of doing guides to the 'keystone' passives eventually, probably once I have a build that uses them! So blood magic would be one of the first ones I cover ;) Good idea on the trading video, I'll try and make something soon that covers the process and how to barter/price/etc.
  • @chadzorz
Gotta thank you for these vids, im planing to start playing for the first time in a few hours, and these videos waded threw alot of the BS and confuseing conflicting info out there,by exsplaining it in a basic straight foward way. now i can start playing while being informed.
  • @ZiggyDGaming
Good idea, looks like a few people are asking for a currency crafting guide so I'll try and get something together. Might be a good thing to do right before open beta so that I can use all my currency items in one go ;)
  • @ZiggyDGaming
You can't farm for them as a drop specifically, they are just part of the massive loot table and each has a chance of dropping provided they are an appropriate level for the zone. However, any gem that is given as a quest reward can be 'farmed' by simply levelling that particular class to that quest. This is obviously not hugely practical for higher level gems but it's good for anything in normal difficulty.
  • @ZiggyDGaming
It improves the effectiveness of the item it's on (armor damage amount healed gem effects etc). You can sell one item with 20% quality or combined items to 40% quality for the relevant quality orb.
  • @ZiggyDGaming
Yeah the recipe I know is five of the exact same identified rares will trade for an unid version of that rare. It's essentially a free alchemy orb so you want the individual rares to be worth less than 1/5th of an alchemy orb.
  • @ZiggyDGaming
I've bought quite a few good items from the vendors over time so it's definitely worth checking! I once found a 5 linked chest in one O_o
  • @ZiggyDGaming
Pure evasion/block melee is great in PvP and against single target but against large groups you can still die quite quickly. For general PvE content Haxden's advice is the best - going for iron reflexes. Dodge/evade may be getting rebalanced in the future but no firm words yet.
  • @chopperhead2012
I tend to pick up rares because if certain rolls are present (like +1 to socketed gems or %chaos resistance) they'll vendor for alch shards, which are always nice to have.
