I used to have a mild allergy to hazelnuts, they didn't cause dangerous swelling but a very annoying irritation in my throat. But when my ex baked tons of hazelnut macarons I ate them anyway because they were so delicious. After a while the irritation didn't bother me that much, and I started eating even more of them at a time. Now I can eat hazelnuts again without issues.
