My dad was a jazz musician. I used to look at his sheet music and wonder where all those notes and chords that weren't on the page were coming from. When we talked about jazz versus classical music he said that jazz men and classical players held each other in mutual admiration. The jazz men loved the precision required to perform classical music. Classical musicians greatly admired the ability of jazz players to improvise which was a skill expected of musicians in the time of composers like Bach and Handel (two of my favourites) but now lost. That explained to me why he could extract so much music from a sheet with very little written on it. When it didn't explain though was how the heck jazz men do it. He said he rarely played the same piece exactly the same. He experimented, pulled the music around and played depending on how he felt and what his mood was at the time. I was left with the feeling that classical music is played for the enjoyment of the listener while jazz is a sort of secret world where they play for their own pleasure and we just look in the door, amazed at their skills.

9분부터 하시는 분 편곡 진짜 제 취향ㅠㅠㅠ 사실 클래식이랑 재즈는 서로 견제도 하지만 동경도 한답니다..ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 재즈인으로서 이 편곡이 진심 개멋지게 들림ㅠ 재즈피아노의 생명인 텐션 컴핑 스윙감을 싹다 빼버려도 저런 아름다움이 나올 수 있군요..

클래식 : 종이에 적혀있는 글을 낭송하라. (글씨를 한톨도 빼놓으면 안되나, 읽는 느낌은 제각각 다르고 사람마다 목소리도 다름) 재즈 : "제시어 - 가을, 낙엽/한국말로 이야기해보라"

일단. . .화성 장르 다 제쳐두고 클래식하는사람에게 제일 힘든건. . .스윙에 다운비트임. . . . 늘 지적당하는게. . ."잘했어. 근데 그루브가 없네."

떠듬떠듬 치는것도 너무 좋아서 당황... 특히 8:26 에 갑자기 웅장해지는거 존좋.... 가슴을 쿵쿵 울림

음알못인데 재즈랑 클래식 악보가 다르다는것도 처음 알았고 그냥 피아노 잘치는 사람이라면 다 치는건 줄 알았따….ㄷㄷ 음악하는 사람들 짱 멋있다

일반적으로 재즈와 클래식 피아노 스타일은 정말 달라서, 서로 다른 스타일의 악보를 받으면 난감하다. 하지만, 민규님처럼 그냥 둘 다 잘 하는 괴물도 있다.......

재즈분야 클래식 분야를 떠나서 피아노 전공자들은 그냥 악보 하나만 딱 던져주면 그걸 갖고 친다는것 자체가 대단하고 멋지다....

1:10 I know what she meant. Not meant to be contentious but in the context of what she was saying, jazz sheet music is simple because it leaves room for the artist to interpret it in the moment whereas classical music sheet music leaves zero room for interpretation and so is very specific. She wasn't giving a value judgement on the two but rather saying what is. The difficulty or prowess in jazz comes from the improvisation in my opinion and the ear to hear the chord changes and knowledge to know the theory; this all on top of the technique to play it, whereas Classical is almost purely technique since it is so fast and high level in composition. I'd say the Jazz musician is the more well-rounded musician whereas the Classical musician is the best technician...if I had to place value on each...which you don't...that's the beauty of music is that it's all valed. Just make beauty and feels.
