Glad to see smaller channels getting sponsors, especially with chemistry as a sometimes controversial subject. Will definiteley check it out!

Also important: you add the pseudo-ionone to the sulfuric/acetic acid mixture instead of the other way around to promote intra instead of intermolecular reaction. Otherwise you get a lot of aldol gunk from it reacting with itself
  • It's amazing all the chemical syntheses that plants do, seemingly effortlessly, but then you see what it takes to make it synthetically and it's even more amazing.
  • This one has a ton of steps. I would be overwhelmed. But you did it! I knew you would!

Thats some slick straight to the point chemistry

That was the least intrusive sponsorship I've ever seen on YouTube. Congrats!

Amazing 😺😍 starting to find chemistry more and more interesting each day

Yikes. That had to be painful to do. Multiple vacuum distillations and multiple steam distillations with a whole lot of washing steps. I don't think most people understand just how much sitting there and watching that thing you had to have done. There's a lot of lab automation and monitoring equipment that it would be nice to have for things like this that either just doesn't exist or costs tens of thousands of dollars. A thermocouple that connects to your wifi so you can check it from anywhere would be a good start.

Very interesting video! I was curious, wouldn’t the product be the beta ionone regardless of the acids chosen given it is in full conjugation and thus the thermodynamic product?

Richest source of citral is essential oil from Lemon Myrthle (>95%)
  • You can make rose oxide from citronellol. You should make 1,3-Benzodioxole, that would be interesting.

May you please find a way to prepare quiet pure rosmary oil?
