LOST RECORDING: Claudio Arrau plays Mozart's Fantasy in C Minor

Chilean master pianist Claudio Arrau performs Mozart’s Fantasy in C Minor, KV 396. Thanks to channel subscriber and mega Arrau fan ‪@jagareco‬ I've been told this recording doesn’t exist ANYWHERE else! How exciting!

No date was on the reel, but from poking around some Arrau websites I found an entry that matches words spoken by the radio announcer that are not in this YouTube video. Likely November 18th, 1947.

This was broadcast on KUOM, the University of Minnesota radio station. The concert was held at Northrup Memorial Auditorium on the campus as part of a “Masters of Piano” concert series. The recording was likely done directly off the line to the radio station by Reynolds Marchant. Unfortunately there is some age-based degradation of the tape so there are drops and pops through some sections of the piece. Still, this historic recording deserves to be heard. Please enjoy!
