Was requested by ScuviT to make a video on some of my favorite / good base locations, here is that video :D! Feel free to post your own favorite locations, maybe even let others know why you like it~ :)

*Hidden Mountain*, base in the mountains:    • ►The Forest | The Hidden Mountain Bas...
*Laputa*, a floating base:    • ►The Forest | Mad Hatter's Laputa (Ba...
*Lighthouse*, edge of the beach peninsula:    • ►The Lighthouse, the third Forest bas...

*This video*:
#1, Beach: theforestmap.com/#334.4,1304.8 1:07
#2, Lonely Rocks: theforestmap.com/#92.2,1095.9 2:35
#3, Red Cliff: theforestmap.com/#-663.3,1508.6 4:16
#4, Two Cliffs, One Beach: theforestmap.com/#-1070.9,631.8 5:43
#5, Rivendell: theforestmap.com/#999.5,-431.5 7:05
#6, Geese Lake: theforestmap.com/#690.8,340.8 10:18

*Bonus*:
#1, Cannibal Village Take Over (any house as shown): 3:46
#2, Opposite of #4 (above list): theforestmap.com/#-1279.0,-260.3 6:36 (both sides of this valley could be used)
#3, not shown in video: theforestmap.com/#1251.9,306.5 . These containers can be good, but fire mutants, and explosives if they're added back, can hurt you through the container - so this ends up being less fun later in the game lol (but great until then). The island across from here isn't bad but I prefer the other island I showed in video next to #3, Red Cliff as it is closer to resources.

*Updated Notes*:
-Teleporting benches have been a bit nerfed since this video, but as of typing this the catapults have similar functionality as what used to be for benches - and you can use those for now... Till it's patched at least lol.
-The beach is a bit more active than when this video was first made, so be aware #1 will have more enemies
-You can now easily build in the giant trees, they're indestructible and immune to fire, way better than normal tree houses
-Water now kills enemies that enter deep enough for "swimming" depth, this makes lakes and island bases even better
-It seems that most of the eastern beach front, including #3, has low enemy activity - #3 continues to be a really calm spot
-In my Christmas video (last half) I show building in the giant trees, as well as two other goofy tips:    • ►Merry Christmas, Subscriber Update 2...

The Forest is an open world survival horror game currently in development for PC.

Build, explore, and survive in this terrifying first person survival horror simulator.

Complete player freedom

Build a small shelter or a large ocean side fortress. decorate your home with found items. Lay traps and defenses to keep a safe perimeter.

Gameplay

Explore and build during the day. Defend your base at night. Craft weapons and tools. Bunker down during the evening or bring the fight directly to the enemy.

Fight or Hide

Use stealth to evade enemies, or engage them directly with crude weapons built from sticks and stones.

A new type of open world, survival horror experience

Defend yourself against a clan of genetic mutant enemies that have beliefs, families and morals and that appear almost human.

Me and my friend built a huge base hanging out on the cliff of geese lake. I chopped down a tree in the opposite direction of our house, but it gliched out, began to spin, fell on top of our base, and then the entire base just exploded, and all the wood and everything fell into the depths of the lake. 10/10
  • @SpyCakes
Geese Lake is my Goto for a small starter base - it's a very beautiful place.
  • I'm a strange kind of Forest player, I do normally build bases, but most of the time I'm like a nomad, just wandering around building little secluded camps and then moving on again just exploring, hunting and killing cannibals :P
  • This has to be one of the best tutorials ive ever seen. not only explanetory and pretty straight to the point after the intro. and its 6 years old aswell. This aged really good!
  • @MkE89
4:29 i use this place as my base, its the best! i built a custom platform on the cliff with a house on top n stairs going to the beach, no cannibals or anything gets on the beach, its 100% safe and turtle as mentioned in the video do spawn on that beach too you just need to wait a minute for em, not to mention the near by village is loaded with goodies soda, dynamite, red paint, suit cases, cloth, skulls and the modern axe cave! which is also has the big stock room for even more goodies! you cant beat it (oh and you dont need to walk logs down, just sit a log sled at the edge of the cliff and take em off 2 at a time and dump em off the edge, pick em up when you have dumped like 40 of em)
  • I think the Best location is living next to the plane that you crashed in it, cuz you can go on the plane again, canibals and mutants can't. Then you have a lot of food near the plane, so do you have suitcases. Food and suitcases reset when you rejoin the game! This is the Best location for me at the moment (o)

I usually make a small, dense tree base around the ring of tents southeast from the Cannibal Tree on the northwest coast. I ring those tents in with walls because they're save points. Building here puts you directly on top of a pot spawn, so I'll save the game, build a sap collector, reload and repeat. The trees are REALLY dense, making it possible to build an entirely elevated camp here and string platforms across the forest to key locations. I usually leave about 20 meters of thick trees untouched around the base. I like to think it protects my camp from view, because I like to make lots of skull lamps for ambient lighting. Bonus, there's a fish pond a few steps away you can also ring around, and connect the two so you never touch the ground. I essentially live like an ewok in a spot that sees high activity (but my base proper is rarely bothered), is close to the beach and caves, and near the highest density of plane crashes for when your friends join.
  • @TheMusicHour
I love your channel! Keep it up :D Your video's are very useful!
  • @Napkinss
You deserve more popularity, theses videos are great. Loved them , keep it up :)
  • @Alexander99602
Imagine 6 people building bases in these locations, 6 bases, just one king to rule them all...a game of thrones... XD
  • @oc6617
I like the faux-news ticker theme in the intro. Clever
  • @ThatEmmetGuy
I cant believe how little subs you have. great commentary, editing and audio. Keep it up.
  • @l.m.7637
I'm still watching it again and again, this is the best video on you tube ever :)
  • @CoDLover352
That island where the turtles swim onto is where me and my friends built our base. Just build a dock extending to the island and add stairs at the base and you can run log sleds all the way over. You also get the turtle and bird spawns. Plus plenty of relatively empty land to build farming plots and you can make plenty water catches. Also the cannibals won't really notice you at all
  • @danluckins4071
#4 is the one I have been using, its a nice plateau with only 1 way up that doesnt involve jumping up cliffs and you can wall it up easy, theres 3 fresh water ponds and alot of deer. Ive built on the plateau above where fetid suggested, and Its a huge base with over 15 buildings
  • I’m so late to this game, my nephew was playing it and it caught my attention, love it.
