  • Kylesa!! Haven't heard these guys in over 10 years but i remember them having some drum sections you could really space out too
  • @alten2122
Who suggested this as your intro to Kylesa?! They have so much more stuff that is better.
  • @Bobsikus
I love sludge metal, it is great addotion to end of festival or like that, it basically is hard/heavy metal, but browsed slowly... AHAB, YOB, CROWBAR are my favourite

Kylesa is such a good band. If you want to dive a bit more into them i suggest you pick something from their Static Tensions Album. If you want to listen to some great drum work and riffing I suggest Running Red. If you want something more upbeat check Scapegoat and if you want something more psychedelic check Unknown Awareness or To Walk Alone (also with great drumming). Their first, self titled album is more like early Mastodon if you are into this. Their albums after Static Tensions are more "introspective". Anyway, I hope you enjoyed them and hopefully we'll see more reactions to them.

Sludge is such a cool and deep genre! More diverse than most people think too. Crowbar, Melvins and EyeHateGod are the big3 of Sludge, also Down, Outlaw Order, Soilent Green and Fistula are some of my favs, if you're interested in diving more into it. I think the terms that describe this genre the best are filthy, raw and done. Done in the sense that life threw so much shit at you and you lived in the sewer for so long that you don't give a shit about anything anymore and just let all that filth and anger and desperate energy out of your system like a broken tap that lurches out muddy water uncontrollably, in the form of music. It feels so cathartic to listen to

you should check out time is running out by for the taking!!

Ive never been crazy for the guitar compositions of doom or sludge. I can appreciate the ambient feel it gives me, but it kills my soul with how little it moves me. Love the channel Geebz!
  • Still here, (well, back, tbh...) please check out the band High on Fire. And Sleep.... Sleep are important!
  • I love this band but this is not the entry point into their work. I'm glad that you seem to generally enjoy it and I hope you come back to them. I suggest something off of Static Tensions and onward.
