Scott Goodfriend, 39, was working his dream job at Meta — until he was laid off just 8 months into the gig in February 2023. Instead of taking another corporate job, he decided to take his food tour side hustle full-time. Now he runs Ultimate Food Tours in New York City, bringing in $145,000 a year.

key here is that he started while he was working full time
  • @jerrseyy1088
He is really in his element! Obviously loves foods and history, but his customer service and business acumen also seems very natural and seamless. Love it!
  • @Fuuyt-vt2ob
there is nothing better than getting paid for something you would already do for free.
  • @ptl10
What a cool idea! Look how happy he is. Wishing him the best!

I have to say this is one of my favorites that you guys have done in a long time. You can really see this guy is passionate about what he does. Not to mention, who doesn't love food. I've been considering moving back to Chicago from NYC and wouldn't it be awesome to have Ultimate Food Tours there. Kind of inspiring.
  • @ninaaraneta
it's actually a great business idea. It's pretty unique, good luck scott!
  • @mRGuitarShow1
The description acknowledges that this is a full time business, so why the headline refers to his business as a side hustle? Stop with the degenerate sensationalistic headlines please.
  • @MikeBourbeau
So cool! I've been on this tour! I didn't know he was famous. Every stop was amazing! Only going on tours with Scott!
  • @dip5635
A gluten free version of the tour would be amazing! He will double maybe triple his profit within a year because he has that hustle spirit. Lead with respect and you will earn respect. Good on him and continue to reach for the sky!
  • @Native722
Wow he's got supportive parents, I like that.
  • @garyish
Great switch. However please note he’s working 80 hrs/week. So the 147k+ /year is more comparable to 74k+ if working a regular 40hr week. Regardless he loves his job, kudos!
  • @JMilansJourney
He is truly a natural and seems genuinely kind! I wish him all the best!
  • @bethanycooke2115
I am so proud of this guy! He seems to truly love what he does and I hope he has more success in the future. I hope to take his tour on my next trip in NYC.

I'm glad he's well. Seems that every guest by CNBC Make It are doing well. How about a CNBC Lost It? Where people went down with their business?

$90 per person that’s insane. I grew up in Chinatown manhattan. All these spots shown in the video are super cheap. At most, you just need $30-40.
