Not too long ago, Elon Musk was by far the most cherished billionaire in the world. Many felt that Elon was not just making the world a better place but literally saving humanity with his climate change and space colonization efforts. But, more recently, it seems that Elon has largely fallen out of favor. In fact, public perception polls very much confirm this trend, but what happened? Well, there is not a single event that changed Elon’s public reputation. Rather, it was a string of events that slowly made people stop rooting for him. For example, his hostile takeover of Twitter, his decision to take political sides, and most importantly, the fact that he is no longer the underdog. This video explains the slow deterioration of the Elon’s fan club and the future of Elon’s reputation.

The moment for me was in the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue when he called one of the rescuers a certain name. That was the first time I can recall Elon showing his less honorable side publically.

When you keep making outlandish promises eventually it catches up with you...That's what happened
  • @metaxy
Everyone is fed up with snake oil...
  • Born with a emerald spoon (literally since his dad owned south african mines!), attending ivy league schools, easy access to network and capital in silicon valley. No doubt he succeeded against unbelievable odds stacked against Tesla. But he was never in danger of being pushed into the streets if he failed. No idea how he conned everyone with the cultivated underdog image.

Elon's relevance isn't fading, his public favorability is.

@Thunderf00t has been calling out Elon's BS for about 7 years now.

Elon Musk turned on the people who supported him. Environmentalists who wanted to go green. Democrats who supported his government subsidies for electrifying America and going to space. He is the poster child for someone getting money and forgetting who helped him get there. That person who pulls out the "I started from the bottom" who was never really at the bottom like most people know it. Then when people see he's doing better and can afford to pay back the loan they willingly gave him, he calls them beggars saying they don't deserve to be paid back.
  • You definitely have my sub. This content is next level. For me Eledator was the turning point. Please keep doing what you do and keep being you, love it.

Let’s not forget that a laundry list of lies manipulation and government subsidies is the main reason any of his companies are still alive
  • I adore your content but I think the underdog theory is a red herring. His insurmountable list of broken promises would probably devalue favorability much more I think.

The movements behind GameStop and Dogecoin were "intrinsically good"? Uhhh.. w... t... f...

Funny how he announced the cybertruck price to be $39900 and then changed it to $60,990. 😂
  • I think you really dropped the ball with this one. In addition to these things people are done with his false promises and investors notice that.

Not that I've ever trusted billionaires, but the Thai Cave tweet was the first inkling I got that this guy was not particularly emotionally mature.

The only thing that's changed is he's not the underdog, really? - Not the founder of Tesla - No self driving - No Mars colony - Not an engieneer or scientist - Is old money: father with emerald mines - Tesla regularly embelishes performance by disabling self driving before an accident - Reinvented the subway but just for Tesla owners (Hyperloop) - Acts like a Facebook boomer on Twitter - Called a guy rescuing children trapped in a cave a pdfile cause he wasn't the center of attention - Redditor humor - Made a PS1 truck that chops off your fingers - Market manipulated Dogecoin - One of his kids rejected him - Constantly makes insane claims he cannot achieve Just read his Wiki dude (btw he also has beef with Wikipedia)
