I remember seeing Lyle Workman playing with Bourgeois Tagg. Harry's Bar in Sacramento. This skinny guy in a jumpsuit playing a Strat with some wicked-tasty whammy and thinking, "This dude's At One with his Guitar...".

His new record has all the elements he mentioned; Beatles, Todd as well as Michael Gibbs, WDR/Metropole Orchestras and Snarky Puppy. It’s his variation that makes him appealing and interesting to his audience. You did well to bring out the information; some people are not used to talking about themselves. Great job. Thank you.

finally! the lyle workman interview! the fact he copped im goin home by alvin lee and mclaughlin and genesis stuff by ear while other kids were learning louie louie tells u all u need to know about lyles guitar playing and harmonic sophistication. the new record is frickin astonishing. check out Harmonic Crusader, as well. absolute master. ray gomez? hell yeah.

The first Frank Black and the Catholics record is my absolute favorite record of all time, bar none; the ultimate desert island album and the guitar work by Lyle Workman is fucking amazing on that record. This dude is a legend.

Awesome interview. I was there when you and Lyle met for the first time at the LA amp show a bunch of years ago.You were demoing in the Bludotone room, Lyle came in to check out an amp and you both introduced your selves to each other and you gave Lyle a copy of your CD, Inception.

I got hip to Lyle from his playing on Jellyfish “Spilt Milk” and then going from there. What a great musician/composer/guitarist.
