Actually it’s quite possible that Nefertiti had that skin color. She was married to King Amenhotep IV (aka Akhenaten) and if you look up other depictions of her, like the the bust of Nefertiti from around 1345 BC she looks like this (what they showed). It’s also been speculated that she was a foreign princess, possibly Assyrian. King Amenhotep III, his father, was married to Queen Tiye who had dark African features. There is plenty of archaeological evidence that suggests skin color is quite variable in Ancient Egypt such as a painting in the tomb governor Huy of Nubia in King Tut’s era (Nefertiti’s son) where there are Nubians wearing Egyptian clothing and are depicted with a range of skin colors, including light.

NOT EVERY BODY IN AFRICA IS DARK SKINNED PLEASE...
  • @aneisa10
There is an Egyptian guy at my job and his skin is just as light as hers. My husband is from Ghana and his skin is brown to dark. Not everyone in Africa is dark skinned.

While we will never know exactly how they looked, read historic primary source descriptions of how different groups in the continent of Africa looked like such as Herodotus. He does describe a group of ppl (i belive he calls them Nubians) who were black and live in a land south of Egypt. That's not the description he gives the Egyptians. Also African features? Africa is a continent. Its one of the most diverse continents. Not everyone looks the same. That was slightly ignorant.

Guys im sorry but the bust from the German museum was an original bust from the time of nefertiti. So they most likely based the skin tone on how ancient Egyptians portrayed her.

The Egyptian eyeliner was actually medicinal and worn to keep a type of mite that caused diseases off of their eyelashes. They also wore wigs because they shaved their heads due to these mites.
  • Tamera you're so beautiful, your whole get up from your shirt to the sparkle in your eye shadow reminds me of how I felt like a princess on a nice Easter day. I love your spirit, it is so sweet.
