Welcome to our first day in China! As Americans, our view of China stretches from a modern cyberpunk dystopia to a falling power. So we decided to see how true any of that is. In this video we are going to be giving you our first impressions of Guangzhou China as we answer the question; what is China really like?

We start this vlog by getting some food at the airport before entering our first metro system in China. We took this metro to the East Guangzhou Railway station which was an epic underground mall system as well. We then exited the railway station to get our first view of Guangzhou.

Next, we were off to Huacheng Square to get a view of the epic Canton tower, one of the landmarks of the city. Althought the weather was gloomy and cold the night turned out well as the clouds cleared and the tower lit up for an epic view. We also got to explore the Mall of The World which was a massive underground complex that was located directly beneath the square. While in the mall we got ourselves some delicious Chinese food before heading back to our hotel and giving our final thoughts on the first day in Guangzhou and our final thoughts on china!

  • You know, it's nice to see more and more western travelers are going to China and see what it's like over there. And I follow a lot of western travelers. All of them have very positive things to say. I'm going to Beijing in April ! Can't wait !

Best thing of china is that there are no thugs, homeless, addicts, mentals, etc. To make you feel unsafe .

2008 First time I went to China (Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, Lanzhou) was absolutely mind blowing. Even back then it made the US look old dilapidated, dirty, crime infested, backwards. I can only image what it’s like now. China is absolutely an amazing country ❤❤❤🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳

As long as you have translation software, don’t be shy and just ask the waiters what their specialty dishes are. Generally, the best-selling dishes will not disappoint you. The same goes for when asking for directions. Young people on the roadside will usually patiently help you with directions. Have a nice trip in china!

Big malls in big Chinese cities are usually connected to the metro. It’s for the convenience of the passengers.

If you feel cold, why not buy some clothes in the mall? There are many clothes at affordable prices in Guangzhou and the quality is also very good. It only costs more than a dozen dollars.

Welcome to the mother country China where Sinospheric nations Japan (Chinese Tang Dynasty culture replica), Korea (Chinese Ming Dynasty culture replica) and Vietnam (ruled by China for 1000 years from the Qin Dynasty to the Tang Dybasty) got their cultures. Most things advertised as “Japanese”, “Korean” and “Vietnam” are actually Chinese inventions, such as tea, tea ceremony, chopsticks, hotpot, dumplings jiaozi (gaozi in Cantonese from which Japanese got their word gyoza), bean curd doufu (from which Japan got their word tofu), miso, soy sauce, rice, rice noodles fen (fun in Cantonese, from which the Vietnamese got their word pho), noodles, rice wine, lamian which means pulled noodles (from which the Japanese got their word ramen), zhajiangmian which means fried sauce noodles (from which Koreans got their word jjajangmyon), paper folding art, koi fish, cherry blossom trees, penzai (from which Japan got their word bonsai), weiqi (Japanese call it game of go), etc. Cantonese cuisine originated from Guangdong province, and HK and Macau also share the Cantonese dialect and Cantonese cuisine that originated from Guangdong province. Guangzhou was also the capital city of Nanyue Kingdom (Nam Viet Kingdom in Vietnamese) estavlished by the Qin Dynasty general Zhao Tuo (Trieu Da in Vietnamese), who also founded the Trieu Dybasty of Vietnam (Zhao Dynastt in Mandarin), which began the 1000 years rule by the Chinese over the Sinospheric nation Vietnam. The word Vietnam itself came from reversing the two Chinese characters Nam Viet Kingdom (Nanyue Kingdom). Viet in Vietnam (Yue in Mandarin) means “southern regions of the Yangtze River of China”. Google search for “Japanese missions to imperial China”, “Japanese missions to Tang Dynasty”, “Nanyue Kingdom”, “Trieu Dynasty of Vietnam”, “Sinosphere”. Guangzhou was the capital of the Nanyue Kingdom, and the origin of Cantonese culture, cuisine and Cantonese dialect spoken in the Guangdong-HK-Macau Great Bay Area. So now you are literally at the birth place of Asian cuisines such as Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese cuisines. Enjoy your stay at one of the Four Great Cradles of Civilizations China that gave rise to Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures and their cuisines. Try out Cantonese signature dishes such as char siu (barbecue pork which the Japanese copied and call it chashu), dim sum, rice noodles, Shahe fen (ho fun in Cantonese) that originated from the Shahe District of Guangzhou, Claypot rice which spread to many Southeast Asians by Chinese immigrants, roasted suckling pigs and pigs which the Filipinos copied to make their lechon, etc. You are literally at the birthplace and authenticity of all the copycat cuisines you have tasted in Japan and Philippines, so enjoy the inventor nation China with their authentic and original inventor dishes. Please enjoy your stay and keep warm. Happy Chinese New Year from a Cantonese Chinese American in Los Angeles. 🎉🎉🎉

Welcome to China! If you have time, welcome to Shenzhen. It is the most modern city in China and also the city with the most high-rise buildings in the world. Shenzhen is very close to Guangzhou, and it only takes half an hour to take the high-speed rail❤❤
