Top 5 Reasons Why The Sony Xperia PRO-I Is Still Great To Buy Or Keep In 2024!

Published 2023-12-04
Hello everyone and Happy Holidays! I am frequently asked if the Sony Xperia PRO-I is still a good device to buy even two years after its release in December 2021. Or maybe you're someone curious about why Sony enthusiasts are passionate about this smartphone, ummm, I mean camera. In this video I give you my 5 top reasons why it's still a great device to purchase (or keep if you’re thinking about switching) in 2024! And if you're not interested in buying it, maybe it will help you understand why someone like me has stuck with their smartphones since the Xperia Z1!

These top 5 reasons are the ones that have stood out for me frequently the most from the past 16 months of using the Xperia PRO-I on a daily basis. So tap that play button and let’s find out what they are!

All the pictures and videos from the Sony Xperia PRO-I and ZV1 are taken handheld with optical stabilization on (except for the scenes in my "micro-studio" which are on a tripod). The majority of them have not been edited and are what comes out of both cameras. Only for the DNG to JPEG files, I ran them through Lightroom Classic and only used auto mode.

Note: This isn't the final video I wanted to upload and only a rough cut. When I was doing final edits in DaVinci Resolve, it suddenly froze up and I had to restart it. When I went to open this video file, it had been deleted! Do you remember all of the hype over DaVinci Resolve earlier this year and how it was the ultimate video editor? Well, it also has many issues which aren't discussed on You Tube. However, I'm only using the free version and don't know if the Studio version has many bugs and other issues.

Great video, very insightful. I still love my Xperia pro-I.
  • The Xperia Pro-i II is rumored to come out this spring. Hoping it will make full use of that 1" sensor. Currently, I'm using the Xperia I Mark II that was released three years ago and have zero issues with it.

I loved my Pro-i too. Until it kept running hot when vlogging. Nothing fixed it. Got a Pixel 8 pro and can vlog in 4k, temp gets up to 92 F , in same place, same temp in room, Pro-i runs up to 120 F in same scenario.
  • 4k screen Full control Camera Physical camera button Audio jack SD card Clean os That's why I chose Xperia 1iii and 1v

Thanks for the video posting , actually just managed to track one down . What a great Mobile phone !. What’s amazing its original cost in UK it was £1,599 to purchase , then dropped to £1,299 . For me I got a mint condition one for £550 . I am super happy 😃

Im on Xperia 1 IV, its an amazing device! I'll be upgrading this year. Hopefully the Pro II (or whatever it will be called) will be out when I upgrade. Great video, and that Sony ringtone at the start made me think my phone was ringing haha

Hi, I'm still rocking my Xperia 5 iii. Can you please make a case for an upgrade to the mark iv or v if necessary.

Been using my pro i for 2 years daily and it's great ... Wish battery life was better but for the screen and hardware onboard it's worth it 😊

I still love my Sony Pro-I, well as long as I don't use it for video 😕 Just amazes me that you can get natural bokeh from a smartphone without AI or other artificial enhancement tools. Actually this is why I love this phone is that I can take raw photos that are actually raw, not some softend, over saturated unnatural images that people want so they can post strait to SM. You forgot to mention the last of it's kind that still has a lanyard loop 🙂

I'm still using 2018 Huawei, I've been replacing the battery 3 times lol, this video finally convinced me to buy Sony

I really love the idea of Xperia Pro-I. I'm on Xperia 1 mk ii, I really want to get the Pro-I as the upgrade or 5 mk iv but lots of people keep saying Snapdragon 888 and 8 Gen 1 will always has heating issues. I live in hot tropical and I do use my Xperia to play heavy gaming...
  • @rstark
camera, display etc etc hardware is okay. but what about the software part, does it have latest android 14? It would get it? security patches are regularly dropped for this device? I'm asking because I'm considering switch to sony from my current phone.
  • @Sabundy
I love my Sony Xperia phone.
  • @winnerzero0000
My ONLY gripe with this phone is lack of wireless charging! If they added this it would make it a must buy for me... Coming from 1V, and 1III before that, I don't want to lose this feature.
