  • NOTE: There may be misspellings, mistakes or missing tips shown throughout the entire paragraph. I apologize for this. Jack, here are some tips for geoguessr when you play again (and you don’t forget doing/checking these): Regular tips: 1. Look at the sun. When it appears in the north, it tells you that you are in the southern hemisphere. Same thing applies when it appears in the south. (You cant rlly apply it during cloudy weather; it wont help much) License plates Bhutan, Ecuadorian taxis and Brazilian plates have red plates. - Indonesian plates have 2 black areas where it divides the plate into 3 white sections. - Malaysian plates however has 1 black area, which divides the plate into 2 white sections. Laos, Ghana, Kenya, Colombia, Uganda, Rwanda and India often have yellow plates. - If you see Hindi, Sanskrit, Sinhala (also spoken in Sri Lanka), etc, then you are in India. - If you see bars on the google car, then you are either in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, (Sometimes in Nigeria or Senegal) or Rwanda. - If the google car is a truck and is black, you are in Rwanda. - If the google car has unblurred mirrors and has tape on one of the 4 bars/roof racks in the google car, you are in Ghana. - If you see a snorkel (which sometimes happens) on the google car and driving on the left side of the road, you are in Kenya. - If you see a police car following you, you are in Nigeria (And sometimes Kenya). - If you see Spanish, then you are in Colombia (and Chilean taxis have yellow plates too). - Sri Lanka and British only has yellow rear plates (and white on the front). - The Netherlands (sometimes Denmark), (Mostly Luxembourg) and Israel has yellow front and rear plates and blue stripes on the left of the license plate. 3. Blue strip on the left indicates a european location. However, Iceland, Russia (even eu Russia), Switzerland, sometimes North Macedonia, most of Croatian cars and Ukraine lack the blue stripe on the left (for whatever reason) Language tips: 4. Cyrillic alphabet: it’s very common. Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kosovo, Turkmenistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina do not have street view. Kazakhstan (which just got new google street view since Mar 23 2024), Mongolia, Russia, Kyrgyz Rep. (Kyrgyzstan), Ukraine, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro have street view. - If you see bars, then you are either in Mongolia or Kyrgyzstan. - If you see camping equipment (black color for ref.) OR colorful mirrors in the google car, then you’re in Mongolia. - If you see a red google car with long antenna, a small hue of blue and yellow (which for whatever reason makes me think the flag. Please don’t get confused abt my explanation.) on the left side and the letter “ï”, your in Ukraine. - If you see the google car as a truck, you are in Kazakhstan. - If you see EU plates, you are in Bulgaria, (Sometimes North Macedonia), Serbia and Montenegro. - If you see “J”, you are in North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro. - If you see Latin and Cyrillic, you are in Serbia or Montenegro. - If you see rifts (except the bottom parts tho), you are in Montenegro. Nordic countries: “vej” is Scandinavian (including Faroe Islands and Greenland). - Å is Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Faroese and Greenland. - Ø and Æ is Danish, Norwegian, Faroese and Greenlandic. - Ö is Swedish, Icelandic and Finnish. - Ä is Swedish and Finnish (it’s also Slovak and Estonian). - ð is Icelandic and Faroese. Tips: If there is very few trees, you could be in Faroe Islands. If you see outer short dashes (which are shorter than the lines in the center), you are in Sweden. Another tip for Sweden is the reddish soil (and the Finnish islands). Western EU: ß is a German letter. Germany (Deutschland) has many blurred out houses (idk why). In Switzerland, you may notice that you feel lower to the ground, therefore you may notice a wide blur at the bottom. Other countries that have this is Japan and sometimes Taiwan. “Rue” is only found in the French language. Sz and Zs are common letters in Hungary. Portuguese words often end with “ção”. “E” means “and” in Portuguese wherein “Y” is Spanish. Accents/letters: - Ñ, Á, Í, Ó, Ü and Ú are all of the Spanish accents. - Ã, Á, À, Â, É, Ê, Õ, Ô, Ó and Ç are all of the Portuguese accents. - É, Â, Ê, Î, Ô, Û, À, È, Ù, Ë, Ï, Ü and Ç are all of the French accents. - Ä, Ü, and Ö are all of the German accents (ß is also German just what i mentioned earlier). - ą, Ć, Ę, Ł, Ń, Ó, Ź and Ż are all of the Polish accents. - Á, É, Í, Ó, Ö, Ő, Ú, Ü and Ű are all of the Hungarian accents. Ill update this maybe and give even more tips soon (if possible). Jack, you make everyone’s day shine. Keep posting more content! Edit: i forgot that there was a limit on how many letters u can reply so ill just put it down here Edit 2 (Apr 20 2024): Lebanon just got street view! (Theres even a vid abt it)
