  • Wow. That's a similar story to a crystal mine in ... Arkansas if my memory isn't swiss cheese this morning. They were digging something mundane and found acres of crystals, not only the Herkimer type of gemstones. For the non-geology types, Herkimer diamonds are quartz crystals, not the hard diamonds. The value of these crystals is the clarity of the stone and the perfect crystaline shapes: double terminated, well defined sides, etc. Those into Metaphysics use clear quartz crystals for Health and Mental well being. For collectors: it is the perfection of the crystal that drives the price. No, these are not jewelry stones, it is the raw crystaline shape that collectors want. What an awesome story! Thanks for bringing us along!

And the coolest thing is that each of those crystals is waaaaaaay older than any coin you ever found!😮

Having pounded that incredibly hard rock in Herkimer to get two tiny crystals, I can't imagine digging in soft dirt for those huge beauties! Happy for Chad!

Chad and Maggie are two of the nicest people I've ever met, glad you could visit and experience the treasure that their land is CONSISTENTLY producing. I have personally found two softballs and many, many nice crystals.

Wow Brad! These are amazing! I remember the other video you did in Herkimer also. I am a hug fan of crystals and that's basically how my metal detecting channel here started 😆 So cool! Thanks for sharing! I haven't had a chance to go to herkimer yet, but I'd sure love to. I enjoy going to Maine and doing some mining there at a few places.

This was so interesting. I’d never heard of a herkimer diamond. I had to go read up on it a bit before watching the episode. So amazing. So fun to see.
