Home means Nevada. It's our state's official song.

Still, many people in Las Vegas have no place to call home, living instead on the streets, under overpasses, or in washes and tunnels. But 13 Investigators uncovered how local leaders are bulldozing an approach that could provide shelter for some of our most vulnerable citizens.

  • This is just evil! They don’t want homeless loitering on their properties , but also won’t let them live in peace on their own properties. What the heck!
  • Interesting the government isn't doing anything and refuses to let anybody else do anything about this problem.
  • @Toughmittens
I remember when when this happened in LA, before destroying them, they put padlocks on them and didn’t let the homeless people retrieve their belongings. So evil

This is disgusting and that person who reported the Tiny homes.. shame on you!! Shame on the Nevada state officials 😢😢😢

This reminds me of a story from ten years ago where a guy made like 1500 tiny homes for the homeless in Los Angeles. It made huge news, Then the mayor demolished them and the excuse was it could’ve been a safety hazard because the city hadn’t sent building and safety inspectors to see if it was safe to live in the tiny homes. Then to add insult to injury the mayor tried to make his own version of it and charge the homeless. We all saw it as a BS attempt to save face and take a good idea and capitalize off of it. He got voted out because of it.
  • They don’t care about people they only care about money and greed. The man who bought the property for unfortunate people. Thank you. You are a hero.

As some one who was formally homeless this absolutely destroyed me.
  • @poisenbery
The most sickening part of this is that they paid money to demolish those houses. Someone has a construction/demolition company and they're friends with someone on the city board.
  • They don’t want to help homeless and also don’t want other people to help them. This is just beyond cruel. People in power are so heartless.
  • @LuxwingGo
Tbh the fact the officials refused to be interviewed is a huge sign that they did this out of maliciousness towards the homeless and not to enforce any laws.

I don't understand how people can be so cruel towards homeless people just because they're less fortunate. I've had a homeless friend on the internet once, and he was one of the nicest people i've ever met.
  • @ET117
I'm surprised they didn't mention how it's illegal to sleep on the sidewalk. As someone with a sibling on the streets of Las Vegas it's appalling that the city criminalizes their existence.
  • @thetndixie
It's happening all across America. The homeless are being penalized for being poor. This is absolutely heart breaking.
  • “Zoned for a single family home” became “license to destroy your belongings and leave you on the streets with no shelter.” Unsurprisingly this was done by people with no shelter issue in their own life. To what end? Their amusement? Sheer joy at harming others? I can’t imagine any other.
  • The worst part is nobody even complained! A city worker took it upon themself to report it which led to the demolition. He just destroyed their chance at bettering their lives and for what reason? People are such assholes - especially people with any power such as city officials
  • @patriciam4123
The government would rather have these people behind bars than giving them a fighting chance with a safe place to sleep and call home. This is heartbreaking. Hope and pray these folks get their homes back. To the gentleman who provided the land and homes....God bless you and keep you safe. ✌️💛

If you've ever been without a home, food, running water, electricity, heat; you know how much losing or gaining one of these necessary features impacts your life.

This idea worked so well in Finland where the government set up tiny homes and a program to help the people in them to find jobs and get clean and sober. They found that by given their homeless people the security of a home, they were more able to pull themselves out of poverty and destitution. It is working exceptionally well. I honor these volunteers who are making a real effort to try to alleviate the homeless crises. Too bad the greedy officials can only think about their revenue and archaic law loopholes.
  • This is making me so emotional, the mixture of sadness, anger, and bewilderment. What is wrong with people and human compassion. How could you let a legal technicality prevent people from having shelter and safety.
  • People experiencing homelessness are vulnerable enough as it is. The general public are doing everything they can to help and yet council and government policies are of no help whatsoever. How heartless and cruel can some people be? This is heartbreaking 💔
