The REAL Hogwarts Houses of 15 Harry Potter Actors - Harry Potter Explained

Now, at this stage we must all know the houses of our favourite Harry Potter characters- like Draco in Slytherin, Hermione in Gryffindor, and so on and so forth. And if you don’t know well..I don’t know what franchise you’ve been watching.
However, what I want to explore today are the HOUSES of the respective actors that played these iconic roles. Harry Potter is played by Daniel Radcliffe..Is HE a Gryffindor? Is Tom Felton (played by Draco) ACTUALLY a Slytherin? How do their REAL personalities line up with their on screen personalities? Are there any discrepancies? Is anyone JUST LIKE their character? Well- today we’re going to be looking at 15 cast members and answering these very questions.
Let me also preface this video by saying that these 15 actors have either confirmed through interviews and/or social media that they’re in the house I’ve mentioned, or it’s been confirmed through Pottermore. No porky pies here.
And before we dive in, let me just quickly remind of you of some of the defining traits associated with each house..This is best explained in the words of the Sorting Hat:
“By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry
Slytherin Loved those of great ambition.“
Anyway, let’s get started....

It's quite ironic how Tom Felton is a Hufflepuff when in the book, Draco decried the house, going so far to say he would rather not be in any house than to be sorted into Hufflepuff.

Obviously Alan Rickman was very smart, but I think he would have been a good fit for Hufflepuff. He was hardworking, dilligent, extremely kind to his friends and fans. And fair minded. I mean look at what Dumbledore says at Cedric's funeral..."Exceptionally hardworking, infinitely fair minded, and most importantly a fierce...fierce friend." All his friends commented what a devoted friend he was. Even Daniel Radcliffe said Rickman came to his opening performance of Eqqus to support him, always made time for calls. So yes, take your Hufflepuff designation you beautiful soul. RIP.

I'm amazed by how one person (Rowling) could create such a world that millions of people can immerse themselves in, talk about, and come up with fascinating questions for... it's wild, and wilder the more I think about it.

I also agree that Alan Rickman would be in Ravenclaw. From the many interviews I've watched, he seemed a very smart guy indeed; he did n't appear to suffer fools gladly. He certainly seemed to expect his interviewers to have done their homework.

I always believed that I'd always be sorted to Gryffindor... Went on to Pottermore, logged in.. Took the sorting... And was sorted to Slytherin... And honestly, I couldn't be happier with it... As with Snape, or Merlin, any Slytherin can be as courageous as a Gryffindor, as smart as a Ravenclaw or as hardworking as a Hufflepuff... We're just more cunning... And I love it.

Snape was academically talented so would say Ravemclaw. It also took a steady mind to keep up appearances all of those years.

People always remember Daniel, Rupert, Emma, Tom, Bonnie, Evanna, Helena, Alan, M. Gambon + R. Harris and Maggie But there is someone who is criminally underrated: the little giant Warwick Davis, aka Flitwick and Griphook.

Loved the video as always Alan Rickman was a very kind and caring man I wrote to his agent on behalf of a friend he replied back to me personally with such a lovely letter also wrote to my friend asking her how she was that he was glad she loved the films and was looking forward to the 4th film coming out he sent her a signed photo and some other harry potter related items R.I.P ALAN you will be forever remember

I tbh think that J.K Rowling should be in ravenclaw as she thought up all the Harry Potter books including the plot twists. I'm pretty sure it would take brains to come up with such an awesome book because it's been decades since Harry Potter was written and there are still probably MILLIONS of potterheads!

I'd have guessed that Alan Rickman would be a Ravenclaw or maybe a Gryffindor. More videos like this would be welcome. I finally took the sorting test, and it turns out I'm a Slytherin. 🤨🤔😑 I hope that means I'm more like Snape or Slughorn and less like Crabbe or Goyle.

You tackled an excellent subject here. Well done! To me, this video further proves the brilliance of the HP casting team, who chose child actors that can identify with their character counterparts, and older actors with the experience and chops to play roles that are completely different than their real-life personalities. It would be interesting to see an HP casting director's reply to this video.

This is fascinating. And it's interesting to see how many of the actors actually value hard work instead of fame or fortune. I'm a Hufflepuff too... and am devastated only because I look horrible in yellow! Hahahaha

I personally think Alan Rickman and Emma Watson would be Ravenclaw. Both academic etc. I always related to Hermione aswell. I have the huge bushy hair (Irish genes) and love books so much I did both my BA and MA in English Literature. I think it's sweet how into HP Tom Felton still is!

I believe that Alan Rickman was either a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin because he was able to make himself aware of his own life story by writing it out a biography of his life before he died
