6:22 thought he said "They look better than you" after that mirror finish and I was gonna agree 😔

It’s come to this: I’m flipping fascinated by shoe makeovers at 2AM.
  • Most of my life I wore second-hand shoes. At first, because I was young and poor, then later because I'm old & stingy. I learned how to restore shoes from an old black shine man from the old school, he had a stand near to where I lived. He would pop the shoeshine rag to keep time with his whistling. He knew all kinds of tunes. As a sideline, he would hunt good shoes down from thrift shops, fix them up & restore them and sell them at his stand. Made a good living. Sent his kid to college. Beautifully shined shoes always show you are not a slob or a bum. There a lot of beautiful shoes sitting in thrift shops. I am glad someone is showing other people how to do it. It makes or a warm place in my stingy heart when I get a compliment on shoes that I paid $4 for. I shine my shoes every day and I'm 68 and retired. It's like meditation or something, very relaxing.
  • Me: I'm not sure about this. Youtube: Trust me bud. Still me: Trying to restore my old oxford at 3:30am

Takes me back to my military days. My daily wear number 2 shoes toecaps were bulled to a mirror shine every work evening for 10 years. Your work is superb Sir.

I heard about a guy, on hearing of his neighbor's early death, he volunteered to come over and shine the shoes of the whole family. I don't know that he did it your way, but come time for the funeral, it was one less headache for the bereaved widow and her children to worry about. Probably the last thing you'd think of doing for somebody in that horrible position, but it was his way of helping, and it did help. Others brought food, sent flowers, the usual, but this one kindness meant more.

I'm happy you gave yourself the credit and said "they look better than new". People are always so quick to not give themselves enough credit. Well Done Sir!! 👞

I started watching guys restoring old diecast cars, then guys restoring old shop tools, then a guy restoring old paintings, and now I'm watching you restore old beat-up shoes! I see a pattern here...
  • My father had a shoe selling store when he was young, and I love formal and dress shoes. Since I know leather and shoes like these and own some nice hand made pairs, I know your job's value and the level of your profeciency. You have a follower from IRAN
  • When I was a kid I use to go out and shine shoes so I would have money for my comics and food for lunch at school.

Fantastic job! So very beautiful! When I was a kid I used to polish my dads dress shoes and he would pay me 10 cents a pair. I never got them that beautiful... but then again, it was a 10 cent polish job! But that experience gave me the appreciation for a well cared for and polished shoe!

Gorgeous shoes for the discerning man. If a guy wears shoes like this he’s making a statement. “I’ve got my act together!” Beautiful shoes. Beautiful restoration work.

I just bought a nice pair of dress shoes for my fiance yesterday for our upcoming wedding. Now i wish i just bought old shoes so i could "repair" them like you did. 😊 I don't even know how i ended up watching your videos but oh boy I'm glad i did. There's just something soooo satisfying watching those old shoes come to life. Thank you sir for a job well done. A new fan from the Philippines.

I love your videos. But you MUST BE one of the most RELAXED guys in town!! :-) I could not imagine doing such a Zen endeavor and not be relaxed. You could continue to do this until you are 90 years old.
