3DS Terraria is BROKEN (in the best way possible)

Today I try out 3DS Terraria for the very first time! It was absolutely not what I was expecting...

Terraria on the 3DS was left unsupported after mobile and new-gen consoles moved to 1.3. So you can think of it as being stuck in the equivalent of version 1.2.4 on PC, with some differences here and there.

Alongside Ocram and other console-exclusive content, the 3DS also got mobile exclusives as well! Making it the perfect version for me to try out, to both relive the content I started with all those years ago, but also experience mobile exclusive content for the first time!

Drop a follow so you can catch it live next time!

Having over 750 hours in Terraria on the 3DS, I found the infinite heal trick only way after the 700th hour, which is still earlier than finding that you can make potions yourself, as I never thought about filling a bottle with water, thus never getting the recipes for potions... I had to wait for PC Terraria for that one.

Fun fact: In older versions of the 3ds version of terraria, if you got a spear and held down the attack button, the spear would keep extending infinitely toward wherever you were aiming it allowing you to hit things really far away from you.
  • One oddity I found when I played this version recently, is the clockwork assault rifle is broken, like legitimately it’s broken, instead of being a burst that shoots 3 bullets, it shots like 30 a second, so it actually does like 2x the dps of the megashark.

Not choosing mage was your undoing. Not only can you get Crystal Storm pre-hardmode, but razorpine’s projectiles were immune to gravity, making Fishron comically easy.
  • This has me nostalgic not only for old terraria, but also for the ds era of nintendo. The dual screen layout was so useful for so many games. Even if a game didn't want to use it fully, it at least acted as a second monitor with a map or menu always up. I still miss it

I like how you're casually healing, just face tanking the destroyer.

Something funny I remember from my time playing 3DS Terraria is that you can actually use a truffle worm in any body of water and it will spawn Duke Fishron, even if you aren't at the ocean

Fun fact: fighting multiple queen bees isn't a weird 3DS thing, that's just how terraria works if you find multiple larva, lol. I remember this because of another bug (probably a console one?) where the larvae would instantly break upon loading the world cause of a world gen mistake, summoning multiple queen bees the moment you start playing and killing you at spawn.
  • The only issue i had with it was how, after a certain amount of progress, loading a world would crash the game

I've been telling people that the 3DS version is very fun and I'm glad that someone is showing the good side of the 3DS version

the reason for the drax being in shadow chests is that back when mobile released, there was a wall of flesh but there was no hardmode, so they sprinkled some hardmode things throughout the game, then i guess they forgot to remove it once hardmode actually got added Also ocram was a thing before all the 1.2 content including plantera and golem, he's a final boss in a post mechs way

So I wasn't going crazy, I remember getting the Drax pre hard mode in the jungle under the temple. I also got life fruits before the mech bosses, vampire knifes were OP along with spectral armour (the hood that gains HP for dealing damage) the damage I delt was crazy making me invincible Edit: first played terraria on my iPad and I still have the original version with my world and can still fight Ocram

I had roughly 850 hours in 3DS Terraria. Those of us who grew up on this game were truly blessed.

Terraria Mobile is what I grew up on. Seeing the Drax in the shadow chests gave me so much nostalgia, I remember being a little kid and getting that drill and just tearing up the world

I played this on Xbox as a kid with all my brothers on split screen. It was epic. We beat the wall of flesh with a diamond staff, a musket, and two minisharks. All I remember as far as mechs go is prime wouldn’t despawn and we just killed it in day rage mode. We struggled with plantera for a week until we discovered chlorophyte. Then we fought golem easily and finally fought ocram. It was honestly the best time I’ve ever played terraria and I miss it so much.

You didnt need to make all those alt worlds for the ores. The wiki is wrong, the recipes work with either. It just doesnt show that option in the recipe book but you can still craft it.
  • @AidenPremium
This is my favorite version of Terraria! I remember sharing pictures of my character having negative defense back on Miiverse at the time.
  • The zapinator required no mana on the 3ds so i used it alongside the spectre armor and never died. Also the lunar event music occasionally played and it scared the crap out of me.
  • @kiwi_est
10:30 this actually happened to me on a recent master mode hardcore run I did, was fighting queen bee with a mage setup, main weapon I used was gray zapinator, but then one of the lasers went through the walls at 100km per hour and managed to, somehow, hit another larva that, god knows where it was LOL (I lived btw, decent arena, buff potions and farming for a bezoar op)

I think the reason only Adamantite can be used to craft the summon is that there was a point where it was the only hard mode tier 3 ore that existed and the developers probably forgot to add titanium as an alternate for that one case
