DEMONITIZED. My channel has been demonitized for "[using] someone else's content without making changes that add significant value." I stand by the fact that my curation of clips and the way I edit them together does add significant value in showcasing the different visual choices made by two (or more) different groups of filmmakers. All future uploads will be put on hold pending appeal. Thanks

I always thought one of the main problems with Alive was the hair and makeup - they all just looked too clean and groomed after 2 months on the mountain. Society fixes that.

“Alive” feels like a tribute to those who survived. “Society of the Snow” feels like a tribute to those who didn’t.

I love Alive but Society of the Snow is much more raw and you can really feel every emotion that they were going through
  • The new ones scenes where a lot more impactful whenever a important character died it felt like it was a real person you knew dying wich is important for a film like this and the rescue scene in the new one felt painful because you remember the people that didn’t make it but reliefed for the rest of them that maneged to get rescued even the music and emotion in that one scene displays how much more effective the new one is
  • Me gustó en su época "Alive" pero pero el realismo de "La Sociedad de la Nieve"es INCOMPARABLE (incluso los mismos sobrevivientes dijeron sentirse como si estuvieran allí otra vez!) Merece un OSCAR! O varios....!!!

4:53 for those who dont know, this scene in Society of the snow is REAL FOOTAGE!!!

I need to admit that Society of Snow is in another level.... and that's hard, because Alive is a classic.

I hate how they left out the rancher on horseback saving them in Alive. I feel like that was a crucial part of the story.

I truly love both of them. I personally go for Sots by far because of the point of view, the language, the direction...etc (definitely NOT a remake despite similar shots in this video, obviously, because both movies talk about the same tragedy). But I don´t think they are to compete with each other; way too different angles.

Society of the Snow looks so much more freezing cold. Like this movie was literally chilling to watch. They really knew what they were doing with this movie and it’s all around impressive.

I'm from Paraguay, I didn't know about this story until a few weeks ago, and seeing the whole picture... Honestly, Society of the Snow it's more respectful of real history, of people and events, not to mention quite shocking and emotional too.

The most obvious difference that I noticed by watching this video is that in "society of the snow" the screen color has a little blue shade compared to Alive which makes us feel that sadness and hoplessness while watching the movie. So the film sounds more realistic cuz we can understand how they feel..👍🏻

To everyone comparing and "fighting" in the comments, both movies are amazing! There are 30 years between both. We are lucky to have watched both because this survival story is amazing and we can't get enough of it and of its lessons ❤ Enjoy them and don't compare. I feel "special" to have watched Alive when it was out in 1993 as i was just a teenager. It impressed me sooo much! And now, with all the wars and bad economical crisis in the world, to have this amazing second movie out and to have the chance to be reminded of strength, hope, friendship and faith? Thank you filmmakers! ❤ "There is no greater love than to give one's life for your friends"
  • oh wow, it's a shocker for me to see most people prefer society of the snow to alive. i remember really enjoying alive when i saw it a year ago. SOTS on the other hand, i got a bit bored watching the first act ngl. the rest was great though, and of course it's more realistic. while SOTS was coming to its last scenes i concluded, 'alive was more engaging to watch, but i felt and understood the people, the cold, the hunger and their overall suffering more watching SOTS.' both solid movies imo. respect to everyone involved making them and of course respect to the survivors. i watched a vlog of a Turkish traveller visiting the museum on this event in uruguay and i learned so much technical stuff about it and how exactly the crash happened. just incredible and so raw how clever and determined they were to go through all that struggle... life is still worth living as it always was from the very first moment it started. from the single-celled beings to huge complex animals... everyone's goal is to go and live a bit further into the time. that's why i love any survival story and the way they are told since they can also be a great way to cope with undesired thoughts.

Alive is Hollywood doing a movie of a real life accident + survival story; Society of the Snow is the ultimate tribute to the victims and survivors.
  • @kira-zk6op
I don't get why Americans made a movie about an Uruguayan accident. The new version is more truthful to the real story and actually has Uruguayan actors the way it should be.
