  • I would love for you to do a video on Inanna as she is one of the most popular and long worshipped goddesses in all of history. Love you work! <3
  • @Rice_peace
"this is supreme goddess language" is definitely something I'm gunna start saying to my friends.
  • @babyruthless9670
I always appreciate that you clarify the use of the word "cult" in your videos, because of the connotation it has in the present days. Great video as usual! I'm sick with dengue fever so thanks for the company :)
  • @docfortune
I really liked how you went into detail about Isis as a figure of salvation and redemption, that people turned to worship of her as a means of purifying and redeeming themselves to become more deeply realized and more whole as human beings.

3:47 You've never seen a more happy chappy, Absolutely cheesing.
  • @tkgsingsct
Your content is among the most fascinating available on youtube - I just joined your Patreon because this is the kind of educational content I want to see
  • @chronikhiles
Interesting how the "mother of the universe" expression is also used for Hindu goddesses like Parvati and Lakshmi, and major aspects of the supreme goddess Adi Shakti.
  • It's interesting to imagine a world where this rather than Christianity became the dominant religion

I appreciate you sticking around!!! I study local religious history. Baltimore seems to have been established as "independent" before Vatican City and the Fort that became a Roman Catholic Church that created my old neighborhood is honored under glass in Rome. Much of what you teach ties to the local history. Thank you for all the work researching!!!!
  • I appreciate the transparency in your work, years ago I had found your channel and have loved the content that you’ve created. As I’ve gone on my own journey of breaking out of the world views and beliefs I’ve had, your channel as well as others have served as inspiration to go to college and really try and figure out what’s going on in the world. For a long time I wanted to start a YouTube channel and I’m glad to know that now is not a solid time to start haha. It’s not that you’ve talked me out of anything, just added perspective from someone in the know. I am a father, a husband, a student, and a non stop grind to make content sounds brutal while I’m just trying to enjoy life. I appreciate everything truly, your work has truly opened my mind to exploring a lot

Just as I was reading a book about Pompeii, and me being surprised about there being a temple of Isis, this video shows up one day later. Awesome!
  • Io Isis! What a marvelous video! Thanks to you and to Angela Puca for your excellent collaboration! Isis remains one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring faces of the Holy Mother that the world has ever seen. She reminds me of Kali, or Shakti in the east; a supreme mother manifesting all consciousness, all existence. It's good to see her getting some proper credit in this obscene and godless age! Well done!

I love your channel. I love how sober and respectful you are with the subject. I'm a raging Atheist in my own life but I love the study of religion as a fundamental subject of the humanities. Personally I especially appreciated your videos on the Dao. I'm glad to hear that you feel that are thriving. I'll be sure to keep viewing if you keep publishing! =D

This was fabulous, packed with so much info that it felt much longer (in the best way)
  • Please don't stop creating such wonderful content. I love to learn and share from your channel. This really is what these platforms should be about.
  • Great video; I really loved the discussion of conversion vs adhesion. It wasn't a topic in theology with which I was at all familiar. It also made me curious to read Metamorphosis & some of the scholarly imterpretations thereof. We have a non-zero body of writing by ancient Greek & Roman scholars who were skeptical or dismissive of the supernatural, including even their own cultures' founding myths. That said, I'd have liked some mention of my favorite Catholic church in Rome: the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. It's a Catholic church dedicated to the Madonna ("Santa Maria") built atop ("sopra", etymologucally related to the English "super") a temple not -- as the name suggests -- to Minerva, but to Isis. In fact, the temple has three layers & you can go further down from the newer pagan temple to the deeply cramped temple it was built on top of. Beyond the simple "cool factor" of seeing three differemt periods of architectural styles on top of each other, I see the Santa Maria sopra Minerva as an archeological metaphor for syncretism & ppl's instincts to preserve the holy. It makes a lot of sense that a Catholic church built atop a goddess of motherhood & salvation would be dedicated to St. Mary. In Catholicism, the Madonna plays a substantial role in the salvation of sinners, such as her pivotal role in Göthe's "Faustus", where she pleads for the possibility of Faustus' redemption. The Madonna also protects seafarers under the aspect "Madonna, stella Maris" ("Madonna, the Star of the Sea"). I generally agree w/ the theologians who argue that St. Mary absorbed these elements in no small part from Isis (as well as elements of Venus Genetrix, Aphrodite Urania, & Vesta). To me, it shows the fluidity of culture & of how believes change w/i a culture. Christianity didn't spread to the polyyheistoc Mediterranean by stamping out pagan practices (at first); it adapted & absorbed elements of the polytheistic belief systems, incorporating them into a new Roman Catholicism.
  • Glad to hear you're sticking around, I'm a long time watcher. Huge respect to the lengths you go to be accurate and talk to experts
  • @alexofswag
Your videos have truly expanded my world view and brought me many hours of both entertainment and knowledge. Signed up for the Patreon finally, can’t wait to see what you have this year
  • @ssn139
Would love a follow-up video on the early cult of the Virgin Mary. Interested to see how it compares/contrasts with Isis worship, since you mentioned some artistic parallels.
